Georgia Highlands

Just wondering if anyone knows if getting accepted to GHC is still based on the application worksheet. I just sent in my application but they no longer require the app. worksheet. Does anyone know if they still use the totals on the worksheet or do they do it differently? Also, does anyone know if they have ever taken anyone who has a C? Or, what about the minimum GPA? Thanks for any info about GHC.

Well, you get to put your sat score at 1100 and then it is only 40% I think of the overall total, so it would be 440 points of the overall score.

Oh, I see what your saying, I misunderstood. That's still a great advantage to have. Best of luck to you!

I took another look at the worksheet and your 3 sciences count for 40% + 40% for the other 9 pre-req's + 20% for you SAT's.

that makes more sense. I haven't looked at the worksheet since January and I couldn't remember which percentages went with the SAT.

freddysgrandmother....are you applying to GHC for the Rome campus for Fall 2009?

yes, fall 2009

Sounds good. I am more than ready to get into a program. The wait is agonizing!!! I am over the 1200 mark, so hopefully I am in good shape. Are you in nursing school yet? If not, have you applied to any programs?

I've applied to 3 programs for Fall semester. 1 of them, my last choice, I got into. I'm still waiting on Highlands and KSU, and KSU's my 1st choice. :heartbeat

Also, do you know what happens if you did not take the SAT? Thats one reason my total seemed low because I did not have an SAT score to put down. I am not required to take the SAT because I already have a bachelors degree. So, does this mean I do not get any points for that part of the worksheet? That is a big part of the points. Thanks for any input.

According to the faculty advisors a Bachelor's degree counts as an automatic 1000 SAT score. If you scored higher than that somewhere else, try & dig it up b/c it's worth free points!

hmmm. they told me 1100 points last fall when I asked. I may have misunderstood. Either way, it's worth a good bit unless you've done better. I've never taken it and don't want to right now, so I'll take whatever they give me for a Bachelor's degree.

Hey, don't take my word for it. The only people with a solid answer about how much Bachelors count are the nursing advisors. Contact them just to be sure.

I am still confused, so if have a Bachelors degree it counts as 1000-1100 points as if thats what I got on the SAT? Then I add up the other two categories (Sciences & prereqs). And thats my score?

What school was your last choice? At least you know you have an option. I applied to GPC but did not get in. I am afraid I will not get into GHC either because I have a couple of C's (from years ago). Good luck, hope you get into KSU.

Yep, that's how you calculate it! My SAT score was 1140 so they took that in lieu of my B.A.

And thanks :)
