Hey! Just wanted to start a forum for anybody applying to this program for fall 2018. I have everything turned in and I'm just waiting for it all to process on the portal. I retook some science course after I dropped out of school for three years but managed to repeat all my classes with an a so my science gpa is looking like a 3.7 but it will be a 2.9 if it is averaged but I am not sure. I have 400 hours of volunteer service. 2 years of CNA experience. 1 year of managent experience ans I got an 85.3 on my teas first try. Feel free to share your stats or your anticipation! If I'm accepted I also would like to know my future colleagues :)
All of that really helps! What are clinicals like first semester? What did you find were the best ways for you to study? Are you part of any of the student nurse organizations on campus?
Thanks Pearls08!
Sorry!! School picked up quite a bit so I don't come on here as often. Clinicals first semester really are an introduction to the hospital. You do some of the basic skills and really just get acclimated to what happens on the floor. Mercer starts you off with 4 hours then increases it to 8 in your second semester (med-surg is 8 hours, mental health is 6 hours) and then the full 12 hour shift your 3rd semester. You won't actually get patients your first semester, but trust me, you don't want to! You will appreciate building up to having patients.
As far as studying, I suggest using the first semester to find out methods that work for you. I use flashcards, record lectures, study groups, make tables, etc. Mercer offers tutoring which I highly suggest you go to.
The great thing about Mercer is that the Dean pays for everyone to be a member of the National Student Nurses Association which also gives you membership of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students. So you are automatically involved! I'm the VP of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students, an ambassador for the college, and was just elected as Director of Membership for the school's Georgia Baptist Association of Nursing Students. If you get in to Mercer, you'll be hearing and seeing me a lot this summer and during your first semester :)

Thank you so much! This is so helpful!! Are clinicals typically one day a week first semester? And two days second semester? Do you typically have class or clinicals every day, or do you get a day off?
And wow congratulations on all you have achieved!! Amazing!
It looks like it just depends on the application. Some people on here seem to have heard within 10 days. A few people said two weeks. I have been "under review" since January 31. I am taking A&PII and Micro right now, and have to take Nutrition this summer. I wonder if the fact that I don't have all my prereqs done is part of why I am still waiting. Who knows? They told me two weeks ago that I would receive a decision within the next two weeks. This Friday is the two week mark and I'm of course on pins and needles and checking the portal frantically, while also trying to study for my Micro Lab midterm that's tomorrow! HAH! Good luck and I hope we all get in soon!
Did well on my Micro midterm despite the fact that every chance I get I'm checking the Mercer portal and driving myself insane. I was told I should hear by today. So far, nothing. I hate how long I've been "under review." Just lemme in already! ha.
Did you send them your midterm grades? I'm taking A&P 2 and micro right now too and I was told they would make a decision based on my midterm grades! The wait is driving me crazy too!
Hmmm. They haven't asked for my grades. I have already sent several emails asking if there's anything else they need. I don't want to be annoying, but I'd love to send over some midterm grades! hahaha. It's gotta be so stressful to know they're waiting on your midterm grades to make a decision. EEEEEEKKKKKK. If they ask me for them, I hope it's after I have taken them. LOL. GOOD LUCK!
So I have one midterm this Wednesday but the other 2 are pushed back until the second week of March. Originally we were supposed to have midterms this last week. My professor cancelled 3 weeks worth of class and as a result we're playing catch up for A&P 2 and Microbio. Within the last few days I've gotten really anxious, even saying that is an understatement. Lucky for us, GBCON has been very timely through the whole process. So once I submit my midterm grades I should hopefully know quickly. Time is flying by but also going by so slowly! Initially they told me I would find out in 1 week about my initial decision and heard back in 2 days. I just want to know! The campus is beautiful and they seem to have a very close family feel. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten in thus far! Good luck to anyone hearing back in the next few days! Sorry guys, I know this is scattered and unrelated, just venting + my random stream of consciousness!

How long did it take y'all to get your MyMercer login information for the enrollment portal to pay? Thanks!
