Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey! Just wanted to start a forum for anybody applying to this program for fall 2018. I have everything turned in and I'm just waiting for it all to process on the portal. I retook some science course after I dropped out of school for three years but managed to repeat all my classes with an a so my science gpa is looking like a 3.7 but it will be a 2.9 if it is averaged but I am not sure. I have 400 hours of volunteer service. 2 years of CNA experience. 1 year of managent experience ans I got an 85.3 on my teas first try. Feel free to share your stats or your anticipation! If I'm accepted I also would like to know my future colleagues :)

I've been accepted, which I'm proud of but conditionally.....bad thing is I won't be able to take the 2 summer courses that were needed before beginning the program. Sigh.....I guess someone else will have my seat. Congratulations to everyone.

What do you mean by this? why did you not able to take them?

I hate to be the person to say this but...

You should really try hard to go somewhere else. I was accepted and attended this semester. My experience was awful. I struggle with mental health and have had setbacks because of it. But I have maintained good grades and a competitive Teas score. I decided to attend Mercer because I didn't want to retake a class at GSU. It was the worse decision I have made in my life. They are insensitive to you, police you, do not respect you, and the faculty is very petty. Race is also an issue, it was worse with the senior class but still noticeable. Be extremely careful who you vent to or hears you complain. They targeted me after a few outspoken moments. I apologized but was never allowed to forget it. I had to take a medical withdrawal because I was hospitalized for my depression. The faculty did not try to help me even though I wasn't failing. They went out of their way to fail me (The doctor gave me a medical excuse but the assistant dean still wanted me to do a medical clearance in 24 hours. It was supposed to be done by a psychiatrist. How was this supposed to be accomplished? A lot of places aren't taking pt or won't see you for weeks. The dean said without it I couldn't return to clinical and would be failed. I argued and emailed her the doctor cleared me. She continued to harass me about it.) and forced me to withdraw. It is an awful institution. The financial aid is also full of commitments. D2D cripples students instead of helping...

I am going back to GSU and finishing my degree there.

There are many others who have had a very similar experience with Mercer, Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. Discrimination here is real why else would a school in the most diverse metropolitan city in America need a diversity program? If you are reading this and have had a similar experience file a complaint-Not with Mercer. Their student handbook will take you in circles. The Georgia Board of Regents does not interfere with admissions or grading so don’t bother. File a complaint with the U. S. Department of Education and in this case file an ADA complaint. You have 6 months to file the Dept of Ed complaint and 3 months for the Americans with Disabilities Act complaint. With the ADA, section 504 Regulations do not contain a requirement that a person shower complett with OCR and exhaust his or her administrative remedies before filing a private lawsuit. Section 504 covers qualified students with disabilities within schools receiving federal financial assistance like the $2 million grant that was give it to Mercer in 2017.
