Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey Guys! I wanted to start at threat for those who have applied or been accepted to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing for 2015. I applied in October and was accepted last week. The reason I heard back so soon is because I have completed all of my prerequisite classes. Has anyone else applied or heard a response yet? If you all don't mind we could share our stats as well (Teas and GPA) that would be helpful to others viewing the thread. I applied with a 3.6 and a C on my teas. I was afraid that I was going to be denied but I think my essay helped out a ton. I was going to retake a class or my teas but they accepted me before I had to go through all of that. I hope to hear back from you all as we begin this process together. Thank you all so much and good luck to everyone.

I will be there since I missed the previous one.

I don't know if I will be able to go. That is the week of finals. :-/

Britney - forgot to mention that for first semester, your clinical is 630 am - 1230pm one day a week.

You know that makes it feel better! So it seems from what you are saying then that once the semester gets started you have 1 day off, 1 half lecture day and 1 half a day for clinicals (although its 6 hours you still have the whole day available)

This makes me feel better. I got this! I just couldn't decide on whether its worth it to risk waiting a year to attend school, just so that I didn't need to put my baby with a nanny so much that first semester. Already that is a luxury that most moms don't have. I should feel blessed and get started!

That is correct. But please don't feel like you're going to have loads of free time, as you sometimes have 8+ hours a week of patho pharm lectures to listen to, plus all the studying you need to do.

Oh I know I will have NO free time, but I can study and do schoolwork at home while multitasking the baby. -- I know I have that down as I had to work from home with my first.

Believe me, I know the schedule doesn't make it easier -- just gives me more options! My butt will be kicked that first semester ;) I am fully aware

Hey guys I just got accepted as well for fall 2015!! So excited! I'm transferring from gsu. Is anyone going to the spring social on may 8th?

Thank you! Someone inquired about a sample schedule, so I went ahead and looked back at what our cohorts was this past Fall. Disclaimer - they may be changing some things with your class, so you might have a slightly different schedule. This is just how it was for me.

Week 1:

Monday: Course orientation 9am, Patho/Pharm 1-4pm

Tuesday: Foundations and Health Assessment 9am, Skills lab orientation 11:15-12pm, Foundations and HA 1-4pm

Wednesday: Skills Lab 8a-12pm, mentor-mentee luncheon 12-1pm, Foundations and HA 1-3pm

Thursday: PDA/smartphone registration 8:45a-9:15am, Skills Lab & photo roster picture 9:30a-11a, Intro to simulation 11a-12pm, Discipline of Professional Nursing 1-3pm

Friday: Health Assessment 8a-12pm, The Well Community 1-3pm

Week Two:

Monday: Patho/Pharm Review Session 1-3pm (this is a hybrid course - you only come to class for questions about the lectures you listened to outside of class and for exams)

Tuesday: OFF (for me, your clinical group determines whether you will have Tues or Weds off)

Wednesday: Skills lab 8a-12 and 1-3pm

Thursday: Foundations/HA 8a-12pm, Disc. of Prof. Nursing 1-3pm

Friday: Foundations/HA 8a-12pm, The Well Community 1-3pm

This schedule will remain the same throughout the first semester with a few exceptions/variations as follows:

- Later on in the semester, you will have community health (usually 8a-1pm or 8a-4pm) and foundations clinicals (6:30am-12:30pm) instead of lab on your clinical day

- You will have mandatory clinical simulations about once a month on your off day

- Some weeks the instructors are extra generous and lecture on Thurs and Fri won't start until 9am or 10am

- They will hold exam reviews after the Patho/pharm exams - on exam days it could be 1-4 or 1-5

Other than that, the schedule is fairly consistent with some slight variations. Keep in mind this is only in class time. You have to schedule additional time to get through the patho/pharm lectures for the week (If I could give you any advice, DO NOT fall behind on these! Trust me, you will be hating life if you end up having 8 hours of lectures to listen to the weekend before the exam!), homework assignments, reading, and studying. I hope I didn't overwhelm anyone too much!

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley King and I JUST got my acceptance letter today! I can't wait to meet everyone!
