Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2015

Published

Hey Guys! I wanted to start at threat for those who have applied or been accepted to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing for 2015. I applied in October and was accepted last week. The reason I heard back so soon is because I have completed all of my prerequisite classes. Has anyone else applied or heard a response yet? If you all don't mind we could share our stats as well (Teas and GPA) that would be helpful to others viewing the thread. I applied with a 3.6 and a C on my teas. I was afraid that I was going to be denied but I think my essay helped out a ton. I was going to retake a class or my teas but they accepted me before I had to go through all of that. I hope to hear back from you all as we begin this process together. Thank you all so much and good luck to everyone.

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I applied in November and received my acceptance letter today! I'm so excited. I was able to graduate from another school in 2013 with a different degree but luckily my courses were able to transfer. My only issue is that I am missing three courses, Religion, ethics, and abnormal physiology. Does anyone know if I will be able to take them at Mercer prior to Fall 2015 like during the summer or should I look to take them at a community college instead. I know some nursing programs will let you begin if you have a certain amout of courses completed prior to enrolling in a specific nursing course but mercer wants it completed prior to the start date right? Any insight will help. Congrats to everyone else who's accepted!

I took religion online at georgia perimeter and it transfers, but I'm not too sure about the other ones. Congrats on getting in!

Maisoon,

You are correct – only an application to the college of nursing is required. You do NOT have to apply to Mercer as a transfer student. The priority deadline is 4/1 but I believe they still take applications through May 1. As I stated in an earlier post, GBCN reviews applicants holistically, and they place a LOT of emphasis on the essay. Your TEAS is stellar. I think you would have a shot at getting in if you knock it out of the park with your essay. How are your science grades? They weigh those a little heavier than cumulative GPA.

Ayyyp,

Congratulations on your acceptance! There are some courses you are required to complete before coursework starts, and with some courses they will allow you to get a waiver to take them in the summer between junior and senior year. I am not 100% certain if abnormal psych is one of the required prior to matriculation” courses, but I know for sure you can take religion and ethics during the summer after junior year. I would check with your admission advisor – they will be able to tell you which courses need to be complete before starting.

If you have any other questions, let me know (:

Congratulations everyone! The senior class cannot wait to welcome you to GBCN!

Hello Everyone!

I finish up my application this week! :-) GPA 3.0 (not that grand...), TEAS 82, and had a pretty good essay. All I can do now is hope and pray. My question, as far as the science classes, if you repeat a science class do they take the highest grade, or take the average of the grades?

Good luck to everyone applying!! :-)

They look at them both.
