Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2014

Published

Hey Evreyone! I just wanted to get a thread started for those who applies for GBCON's incoming class for fall 2014! I applied just last week and I'm excited to hear back from them! Has anyone else applied or heard back? If you don't mind sharing your stats as well (Teas, GPA) that'd be great too! I applied with a 3.35 and an 81.3 on my TEAS but I think I wrote a really good essay so hopefully that helps some too! I'm also thinking about retaking my TEAS.... I'd love to hear back from you all as we start this process! Thanks and good luck to you all!

Hi Everyone!

I have been stalking this page for awhile now but this is the first time I have posted! I sent my deposit in and am officially joining the Fall 14 class at GBCN! I am SO excited! I am sure y'all know- it is such a long and stressful process and it is such a relief to finally know where I will be going and I really feel like it is the perfect school for me!

I was wondering if anyone had set up a Facebook group yet? I couldn't find one when I searched...

I went in to my primary care physician last week and got my blood work done. I am immune to everything except Hep A, which they say I should get. Does anyone know if Hep A is required for Mercer? I don't think it is. Now I just need to get my TB test done! I got my tetorifice shot done too- it actually kind of hurt!

I am so excited to meet all of y'all. I think many of us will be friends for years to come!

I believe the faculty sets up a Facebook page for our class once the deadline has passed in April or May. I don't believe they require the Hep A. It's not on my list from the school anyway.

Just to confirm what meeep said, faculty or GBANS will set up the Facebook group for you, and you can take your CPR course anywhere as long as it's BLS and American Heart Association certified. The card will be white and blue with the AHA symbol on it. You can find providers through AHA's web page.

Hey Everybody! My name is Paulina and I just received my acceptance letter on Saturday. I am super excited :) You all sound like awesome people cant wait to meet you guys :)

Congratulations!!

Bravera,

Any way you can shed some insight into typical financial aid awards? How are people usually paying for GBCN? I hope it's not too rude of me to ask.

I have no idea what i will be offered through financial aid. MyFAFSA EFC is 0. My plan is to take out whatever loans they offer and supplement with private loans if necessary. It is very nervewracking!

I don't think I can take out a private loan, so I am very nervous as well. My EFC is also 0.

Are we able to get into MyMecer after we've been accepted? Did you just use the Mercer ID number they give you? I've tried to get in and I haven't been able to.

I just got my titers done and my Hep B was negative as was varicella... I was hoping to get into the May orientation, now I don't think I'm going to :(

Yes, you should be able to log into my mercer. Make sure your password is entered correctly.

Man, I hope my varicella isn't negative. I've had the chicken pox twice(!) and have also been vaccinated!

@meeep Did they give us a password? I thought I saw once it was our birthday? yy/mm/dd?

EDIT: Just kidding. I got in. Yay!

I'm sure yours is fine then. I had a VERY mild case when I was a baby. I literally had like a total of five chicken pox. They told my mom that I may get it again when I got older, so I wasn't surprised about that one. Little upset I have to get the Hep B ones again... Blegh.

Is anyone planning on living on campus?

Also meeep, I've had the chicken pox twice too and my test said I wasn't immune so now I have to get the measles/mumps vaccine again ugh

Ugh, I really hope I don't have to have extra shots and titers done! I will be living on campus if I'm able to attend. I just got off the waiting list and submitted my contract. Glad I don't have to worry about where I will live!
