Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2014

Published

Hey Evreyone! I just wanted to get a thread started for those who applies for GBCON's incoming class for fall 2014! I applied just last week and I'm excited to hear back from them! Has anyone else applied or heard back? If you don't mind sharing your stats as well (Teas, GPA) that'd be great too! I applied with a 3.35 and an 81.3 on my TEAS but I think I wrote a really good essay so hopefully that helps some too! I'm also thinking about retaking my TEAS.... I'd love to hear back from you all as we start this process! Thanks and good luck to you all!

Ugh, I really hope I don't have to have extra shots and titers done! I will be living on campus if I'm able to attend. I just got off the waiting list and submitted my contract. Glad I don't have to worry about where I will live!

You were on a waiting list? That's strange, it let me sign a contract and pick a room immediately when I logged on to myMercer!

Hey! I just got to pick a room also. I am going to live in a 2/2. Jennybre, did you pick a roommate or are you just rooming with random person? I am looking for a roommate. I was trying to see if they do roommate matching but housing said no. I just wanted to find someone close in age that is entering nursing school same time as me. Let me know please if anyone knows how to find others interested in roommate matching or how I can go about this. Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks!

Didn't mean to post that twice!

Yes, I was on a waiting list. It might be because I needed a 1 bedroom, and there were none available on March 1. Several opened up recently though.

Hey Everyone! I'm looking for a roommate if anyone is interested in a 2/2 in the dorms. Facebook me if you are. Thanks!

Congratulations!!

Bravera,

Any way you can shed some insight into typical financial aid awards? How are people usually paying for GBCN? I hope it's not too rude of me to ask.

A lot of us are paying for part of our tuition out of pocket or with loans. Some of us have HOPE, which covers a small portion, and I know pretty much everyone gets an equalization grant worth around ~$500. Many of us, myself included, get need-based Pell grants. There will be opportunities to join organizations and societies once you start at GBCN to receive scholarships through the school, but most people I know didn't get one until after their first semester. A couple of my friends also have part-time jobs in our admissions department that net them a little cash on the side. My suggestion is to apply for as many scholarships as you can, reapply for HOPE if you are eligible and don't already have it, and be ready to take on some loans and have emergency money set aside. I've heard of people having to pay anywhere from $500 to $4k to cover a semester.

Financial aid is all based on the individual, but I'll tell you that I have HOPE, the equalization grant, a Pell grant, and a small independent scholarship. I still take out around $3k in loans per semester and paid $1k out of pocket for tuition my first semester and $700 the second. I have been given the opportunity to join different societies that offer scholarships, but didn't have the time to commit myself to them (meetings, traveling for conventions, etc.)

Thank you so much! That's actually less than I expected.
