Hey Evreyone! I just wanted to get a thread started for those who applies for GBCON's incoming class for fall 2014! I applied just last week and I'm excited to hear back from them! Has anyone else applied or heard back? If you don't mind sharing your stats as well (Teas, GPA) that'd be great too! I applied with a 3.35 and an 81.3 on my TEAS but I think I wrote a really good essay so hopefully that helps some too! I'm also thinking about retaking my TEAS.... I'd love to hear back from you all as we start this process! Thanks and good luck to you all!
Hey guys, the titers and vaccination process is very lengthy and a total pain. My advice is to begin it as soon as possible, because they will hot hesitate to delay your clinical date or send you angry letters/e-mails about not having all your bloodwork in. I know a lot of us had trouble proving immunity to Hep B on titers, so get those vaccinations ASAP since they're done in a series of 3 and take a while to complete. Do your TB screens in may, since they expire every year and won't interfere with clinical that way :) Feel free to PM me any questions or to exchange contact information. :) We're happy to have all of you! You'll love GBCN.
Also, you only attend one orientation. We didn't have to have our titers/vaccinations completed prior to last year's orientation, but things may have changed since we had issues with vaccinations this year. I'll ask for you all when I'm back on campus on Monday!
The only thing I have left is my flu shot. Also, Bravera, does the bookstore on the Atlanta campus sell the BLS Healthcare Providers manual for CPR? I will be on campus Monday and I will be purchasing some of my books for Fall. I want to get it out of the way now while I have extra money at my disposal.
Thanks again for all the helpful info, Bravera. I really appreciate all of your posts! I am holding off on the titers until financial aid comes through. Other schools I've been accepted to don't require them. Basically I don't want to put out a bunch of money and then be unable to attend GBCN because of lack of aid. The risk of losing my deposit is enough of a loss already. I have been looking for scholarships and other aid, and I am praying I get enough to cover everything as Ga Baptist is my first choice.
Meechka - did they already release the book list for Fall? I thought that wouldn't be available until the summer.
I am so glad everyone is so helpful! It can be such a daunting and confusing process!

This link has all the info you need. There are separate links there outlining the vaccination and titer requirements. If you have any questions, we are all happy to help if we can!
Meep,
I have a friend who is an upcoming senior. We met up last week and she went over the book list with me. Also, if you go to shopmercerbears.com and select 'find textbooks' you can input the info from a previous semester and find them that way. Just select the campus and class course number and it'll produce a list of the textbooks we need for the upcoming year.
That was my understanding as well. I was looking out of curiosity. I don't plan to buy anything until we have something official from the school. Has anyone heard when we will get the list of supplies we need? I would rather get everything gradually over the summer than have to get everything at once.

I did not know that! Good to know! I haven't had the Hep B shots yet though, I think it's a lengthy process? So I don't think I will be finished by May.
