I was recently accepted into the FNP program at GW and wanted to know if I could have feedback from anyone in this program or who has completed this program?

I was also accepted into the program and would love some feedback from current or past students!

Mluer001, do you plan on doing full or part time?

Congratulations to both of you! I am currently in my second semester at George Washington University in the part time FNP program. So far, I am happy with the program. The student is responsible for finding their own clinical sites. That part is my biggest concern. I have already started on a list of potential sites. Being that I am in the part time program, my clinical rotations will not start until next year.

Good luck to both of you!

If you're within traveling distance to the school, you absolutely should push GW to find clinical placements for you in accordance with CCNE standards. It's pathetic and shameful that a large research university's nursing department would tell their students to find their own preceptors.

Awesome. I plan on doing part time! Have you heard of any differences between this program and GU?

Mluer001,

I was accepted to both GW and GU. After weighing both options, GW ended up being the better choice with my work and personal life. GU's classes are synchronous each week. I believe that students must attend each class online twice a week. GW's classes are asynchronous. GU finds your clinical sites, although I am not certain how close the clinical sites are to the student's home. With GW, the students find their own clinical sites. The students at GW seem to network well. I have been provided leads for potential clinical sites in my area by students who are ahead of me in the program. Both programs have required on-campus components. Tuition is also different for each program.

These are just a few things that I learned through the process. I hope that this helps.

Great! The programs are both great from what I understand, but what I love is that GW is asynchronous classes, that really helps with family and work.

So glad to have found this thread. I also was accepted, but waiting on one other before deciding. Anyone know when the deadline is to decide? My main concern with GW is finding the clinical placements. Glad to hear of the networking.

Not sure when the deadline is, I know when I accepted this last fall the deadline to submit your deposit was 15 March 2019. I'm sure that's variable depending on when you accepted the offer.

I know on the GWU website they will offer some assistance in finding clinical placements, but highly encourage students to do so themselves. I'm fortunate to live in an extremely large metro area so I hope there wont be any issues there.

Hi everyone! I was recently accepted to GW’s FNP program for the part time option. I’m excited to start. ?

I was also accepted in their MSN FNP program recently. Is there a current group on facebook, if not we should make one so we can all stay connected in some way.

Hello all! I am excited and stressed to start the FNP full-time option in August. The part that is stressing me is the clinical portion. I'd like someone's feedback on that part, especially if they are/were in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area. How did you go about finding preceptors? How difficult was it? If you could do it over again, what would you change?

Congrats to everyone!
