Hi guys!
Congratulations to all that were accepted already! :yes:I know the application deadline is 10/1, but I received my email last week. My prereqs were finished August 15th. I am excited and at the same time nervous about leaving work and starting school full-time. I heard that there will be about 55-60 students in our cohort.
I love Virginia/DC and the fact the GWU is a great school makes it even more surreal. I am awaiting the orientation date, but hopefully will visit before then. I am from the NYC area and look forward to meeting everyone!! I was actually also accepted to a school upstate NY, (12 month program starting in Jan as well) but the winter months are brutal!!
Did anyone look into housing yet? I've heard that VA/DC/MD traffic is among the top worst in the country. Let's get to know one another. Best of Luck to everyone!
Hi realdream, here is the info about the pathophysiology courseNURS 3112: Nursing Practice and Clinical Reasoning I: Adult and Aging Acute and Chronic Illness (5 credits): Students are introduced to the values, knowledge and competencies that are the foundation for safe, evidence-based professional holistic nursing care of adults with common medical and surgical needs. The student will explore the pathophysiology of common diseases and the essentials of the nursing process. It focuses on the expected outcomes and effects of nursing interventions with adults experiencing selected health conditions at multiple levels of care (health promotion, acute care, and community including the home and ambulatory settings).
Thank you so much for checking this.. I was assuming if I don't see it in the first semester & wo the actual course named Patho.. Smth was off;) good.. My due date of submitting deposit is Friday next week, I'm going to give it a little more for other school to answer and then be on my way hopefully!
Hey! I was accepted for the Spring 2014 cohort as well. I'm torn between GW and Georgetown (mostly because Georgetown is so expensive!) is anyone else having the same thoughts? Also, where are you guys looking into living? (and does anyone know anything about the Ashburn area?)
Hey tb2013, I am in the same situation as you. I really want to go to Georgetown, but I don't think I will just because is soooo expensive. Are you going to the admitted student day? I think that if I go I will completely fall in love with the program and end up choosing Georgetown (and drown myself in debt), so I might not attend! I really want Georgetown, but is just too much money.

I'm on the same page! Choosing between GWU and NYU, which is too expensive to me... I already chose GWU over some other schools offering me acceptance but now it got tough & I'm stressing a little;)

I haven't even taken a trip to there yet, I'm from New Jersey... I would probably check bad areas first to be sure not to move there... but all I know is I wanna live as close as possible to campus, & don't mind traveling for clinicals..also wd be nice having some transportation close by
Realdream I think I made my mind to attend GWU because is a really good school and is more affordable than others. However, like you and many other, I still wish I didn't have to worry about the money!
Well that worry makes us who we are;) we can attend graduate somewhere else, acceptance rate for gwu is 33% so it's already impressive we got in
Congrats! My application was verified (meaning they received everything including my transcript) around the end of August. I have not received a decision yet & am getting pretty nervous! I was informed that my application is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. I feel I have very a solid educational and professional background and hoping that will get me in! Upon application, 4/6 of my preqreqs had been completed. I am currently taking the last 2.
Do you guys have any idea what type of GPA/professional experience/etc they want for those admitted?? I am trying to get a feel for whether or not I will be accepted.
Is anyone else still waiting for a decision??
Thanks!
Hi, normally second degree programs don't focus on your professional experience because they realize you'll be embarking on a new career path.
If I had to guess I'd say that 3.0 is the least GWU will accept to provide an offer. Good luck!
Hello all!I just recently got my acceptance letter and am very excited! I went to undergrad in DC so I am a little familiar with public transportation/location. The campus is in Ashburn, VA which is pretty close to Dulles Airport, about 30-45 minutes outside the city. However i would recommend not relying on public transportation AT ALL. The metro can be pretty unreliable and is only open 6am - midnight on weekdays and 7am- 2am on weekends. Using public transportation for clinicals seems like it could be problematic.
As for living, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm think the best place would be on the outskirts of DC. That way your somewhat in the middle of classes/where clinicals could be.
Thoughts?
Congratulations, be sure to join the new FaceBook Group George Washington (GWU) ABSN Spring 2014
