George Washington ABSN Spring 2014

Hi guys!

Congratulations to all that were accepted already! :yes:I know the application deadline is 10/1, but I received my email last week. My prereqs were finished August 15th. I am excited and at the same time nervous about leaving work and starting school full-time. I heard that there will be about 55-60 students in our cohort.

I love Virginia/DC and the fact the GWU is a great school makes it even more surreal. I am awaiting the orientation date, but hopefully will visit before then. I am from the NYC area and look forward to meeting everyone!! I was actually also accepted to a school upstate NY, (12 month program starting in Jan as well) but the winter months are brutal!!

Did anyone look into housing yet? I've heard that VA/DC/MD traffic is among the top worst in the country. Let's get to know one another. Best of Luck to everyone!

Hi Realdream, I am not sure about this one! However, I have the same issue. I already submitted the deposit to GW, but I just heard from my top school and got in. I have no idea what to do now. :$

I would definitely go to your top school no question! How does GWU do background check, immunization and registration for classes? Do we have to just wait for hard copy of acceptance to do that or talk to advisor?

I still haven't heard anything from admissions and I know I'm being impatience, but after they sent me an email saying they'd received my application, I should hear an update 2 weeks after it being verified. So far I haven't heard back. I did contact admissions and they wrote that it should still be a few weeks later before I hear back.

They didn't send me any info yet about anything else. I submitted the deposit and they said they got it and that was the last I heard. I don't know about immunization paperwork, etc... I signed up for an information session Nov 12, 6-7pm (or 7-8pm I can't remember exactly) hopefully I can get some answers then... Anyone else attending this event???

Ungxx004: I hope you hear back soon from admissions! I understand how difficult it is to plan last minute! Good luck!

I should definitely think about visiting info session that day.. I'm from New Jersey and going to wait another week before I submit deposit & also for NYU ( used to be my top choice before some research done) to answer me & then will get on with moving... But actually I already got some questions answered over email, they said to wait for hard copy mailed before registering to classes, & confirmed that classes will be held in science building in Ashburn, VA.

Hang on there people, I'm sure you'll hear soon enough, because the first orientation is January 8th.

Ungxx004,

I submitted my application Sept 26-27 and received a confirmation email around Oct 9 that also said I should hear something in 2 weeks.

I contacted admissions today (Oct 31) and got a very quick response. They said things got pushed back a bit and that I should receive an email when my application is sent to the admissions committee (in my case they think this will be soon). I am relieved to know that the admissions committee hasn't seen it yet. Perhaps you are in the same position as me and the lack of response does not have to do with evaluation of your application.

I think they just have to give 2 weeks to see if people admitted will put deposit to hold spot, I haven't done so yet because I still have 2 more weeks timeframe & prefer hear few other choices... they need to know # of students actually attend to continue send out the acceptances. That wd be my guess.

That would make sense I guess... but I didn't think it was a rolling admission program. Did anyone apply for the 2 scholarships that were sent out via email? If so, have you heard back yet?

I read somewhere that they do rolling admissions that's why I applied back at the end of june! I am not sure where I saw that... maybe their website? Yes I applied for one of the scholarships, but have not heard back!

I finally received my notice that my application was forwarded to admission for review! It seem that after this, the decision is pretty quick! Please keep my posted if you do hear back about the scholarships!

Yes, I didn't realize it was rolling admissions either or I would have given my letter writers an earlier deadline. I don't remember hearing anything about rolling admissions at the information meeting but I could have easily missed it.

I understand that part of the reason for the hold up was a deadline extension, so that may be good news for those of us who submitted only a few days prior to Oct 1.

ungxx004, It sounds like we are in the same group of applications to be sent to the committee. Good luck! I hope we hear something soon.

Btw guys does anybody know if pathophysiology is in curriculum for GWU absn? I don't see it at all?! And it usually the first semester for nursing programs and mandatory
