I was terrified of chem my whole life...it almost kept me from my dream..but I just figured I'm not the dumbest person on earth, & if all the other nurses managed, so would I. I took entry level first, then general & got A's in both & was invited to be a tutor!! I still can't beleive that....it is not bad, just get help before you need it...stay on top of everything..one thing builds on another.
I love chemistry. The math is a bit of a hassle, but it's fascinating. I think that's what I'm discovering with this return to school at 30: everything's amazing and fascinating. I'm doing Biology 101 at the moment, and when we got to cell respiration and the electron transport chain, I was stunned by how cool ATP Synthase is. I think I was telling people about it for weeks afterwards.
Anyway, good luck. You can do it. My advice is to find one fact in each lecture that you think is kind of neat, and come back to this thread and tell us about it.
and speaking of how the pre-reqs relate, I've had two physicians tell me that the correct order is A&P, then micro. The thinking behind this is that you spend a lot of time in micro talking about the effects of different microbes on the human body, so you have to know how the human body works in a healthy system first.
Be thankful it's beginners chem. I am starting grad-level chem this Monday for a CRNA program and I still have nightmares of undergrad chem. so much anxiety, I could puke right now. Any way, Best of luck, plug away at it everyday. And stay ontop of it, it will be manageable. Besides didn't someone famous once say, what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger. Or is that just blowing hot air up your skirt. Really, good luck :)
