I've got a interview tomorrow for a Dialysis Tech position! I've been trying to get a job in a clinical setting for months now & this is the first interview I've gotten. The hours would be great (4:30am-5pm, three days a week). Not sure about the pay, but as long as it's as much or better than the pittance I'm making at my cousin's store, I'll be happy.

Fingers are crossed! Getting a foot in the door with this hospital would be excellent! :)

That's great, AmyLizz ! :)

And exactly how I got into nursing school.... and got my RN... AND tuition reimbursed 100%... books, exams, the WORKS.

The only thing is if at all possible, choose a SMALL clinic. The large ones are horrible... no time for patient contact, they're like an assembly line. The staff turnover is outrageous because it is very rush, rush, and labor intensive. Can be extremely stressful.

jnette...how cool! I hope I get those kind of benefits too! :)

The clinic I'd be working at (if I get the job...knock on wood) is a branch clinic from a big hospital, so hopefully it's not too big. I'll find out today anyway!

Just my luck...we got 5" of snow last night. Glad I took the day off from my job to interview. At least I can take my time getting there.

I'll let you all know how it goes... :)

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Home Health.

Can't wait to hear back....best of luck and be careful on the roads out there ! :)

Specializes in Oncology, Cardiology, ER, L/D.

Congrats Amy! Sounds like the perfect job for you! I notice we are from the same area, what nursing school do you go to? And girl, do I know what you are talking about with the snow! I looked out my window this morning and actually PINCHED myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming! Come on, I was wearing shorts yesterday for pete's sake!

Navynurse...I go to Sinclair Community College in Dayton. I'm still on the waiting list to start the nursing program, but I'm biding my time taking the pre-reqs & co-reqs. I'm about done...only have 3 non-nursing classes left to take, so I'm hoping I get in sooner than later. :)

Getting ready to leave now...I've got around an hour & 45 minutes until I have to be there, but it's snowing again (yippie) and I've got to hit an ATM for some parking $$.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hey Amy, my friend Doug is in that program right now and he is loving it! Good luck to you. :)

Well, I think the interview went well. I spent an hour or so at the hospital interviewing with the recruiter & then spent an hour and a half down at their off-site clinic interviewing with the manager & the lead educator. It was a long day. I should know if I get the job by Thursday, which is good since they want me to start Monday if I get it!

I thought it was really interesting. The clinic is really nice. It's big, but it's divided into 3 sections, so you only work one section per shift, so you're only working with about 3 patients at a time, which is cool. The machines are amazing. Touch screen computers & everything. Very user friendly from what I could tell. I got to watch a nurse put someone on the machine, which was really interesting. She let me feel the patient's fistula, which was totally cool. I think I'd like working there.

Hopefully I'll hear SOON! :)

The really cool thing...after 90 days, the hospital will pay for my tuition! WOOT!

That's great, AmyLizz ! :)

I was a PCT for 5 years... 3 of them while studying for my RN. I absolutely LOVE dialysis nursing.

A small clinic (up to thirty patients... or two shifts of about 10 patients per shift) is much MUCH nicer. So check them out thoroughly.

Wish you the best ! And yes, they DO train you quite well before you acyually go out on the floor... it is amazing what all you will learn. !

Keep us posted !

I am a dialysis nurse and I agree with Jnette!

Best of luck to you!
