What medical shows do you watch?

I used to watch ER, lost interest in that when Carter left, but keep up here and there to test my knowledge....I adore Greys Anatomy - they have some great cases (and good eye candy;) ) and hey, they always seem to be talking about something we're being tested on!

I also watch Trauma; Life in the ER...

Most of these of course are taped for the "spare time" hehe....:lol2:

how about you all?

Specializes in ICU.

YAY! so many Greys Fans here! ;)

I just got my season one dvd also and I see that season two is on its way early sept....just in time for the premiere of season three...George is adorkable, but Mcdreamy is just, well, McYummy:blushkiss

Does anyone watch Scrubs? That's about the only medical show I really don't watch....

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

I watch mostly TLC/Discovery Health shows like Trauma: Life in the ER; Dr. G, Medical Examiner; Untold Stories of the ER; The Critical Hour....

I don't really care for the medical drama shows on the networks...too much like soap operas for me...

I used to watch Scrubs until it conflicted with Lost (I think). It is a hilarious show. I think a nurse is on the writing staff because many times the doctors are clueless and the nurses have to set them straight.

I get annoyed by the mistakes on the scripted medical shows too. It used to drive me crazy on Gray's Anatomy when they would put their stethoscopes on backwards. I am so excited for the season premiere, I can't believe how the season ended. Has that episode reran yet? It made me cry...

or any of the scripted medical dramas (i find too many errors).

But that could be a good way for new nurses or nursing students to test their knowledge. :)

Nah, they haven't played the series finale yet... I taped it though, so I've seen it a bunch of times....I've heard that Finn is in for eight more episodes, so what are the chances that Meredith chooses Derek? :o

That's too funny about Scrubs - totally makes sense that a nurse would be advising them! And I agree with you on the medical errors, bugs the crap out of me...but I use it to look something up and definitely to test myself..hehe

I absolutely love to watch House. I always tape it when I'm at school. Some nurses that work at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem acutally told me that when they took their state boards that there were some questions on there that watching House helped them to answer. I love all of the research and the thinking skills that the show seems to go into. It actually makes you think and the more that I learn in school, the more I seem to understand on the show. Don't get me wrong, I know that it's just a show, and that you can't rely on everything being medically correct, but I've not seen anything that seems offbeat. I'm looking forward to the new season.

I'm a Grey's fan too. Doesn't it seem like most of the things the main characters do are actually a nurse's responsibility?

Specializes in Psychiatry, Case Management, also OR/OB.

I can't seem to get thru the week without my episode of House. Also, trauma life in er and medical maverick... just about all the shows on discovery health, like others have said...

I haven't noticed that, but we do use Grey's when we study. When we learned about ascites we talked about Grey's, when we had to learn the difference between impalement and penetration wounds we talked about Grey's.

I have noticed that on Grey's and House you would lose your license in the real world with just about every episode.

I keep my TV on discovery health channel, when my husband is not in the room, he hates it. Just wish there were not so many reruns.
