I used to watch ER, lost interest in that when Carter left, but keep up here and there to test my knowledge....I adore Greys Anatomy - they have some great cases (and good eye candy;) ) and hey, they always seem to be talking about something we're being tested on!
I also watch Trauma; Life in the ER...
Most of these of course are taped for the "spare time" hehe....
how about you all?
I have two main addictions to TV....which I really seldom watch -- American Idol & Grey's....I wondered if I would find time to keep up with these during the school year as I start my RN program on 8/21.
It sounds like some TV viewing will fit in to my schedule, even it's done by watching a recorded show -- phew!! :)
Do they still play Strong Medicine? I used to watch it all the time on Lifetime but they changed the days/times around and now I can't find it. Any info would be appreciated... I loved that show.
I am a discovery health channel addict... I watch Paramedics, Trauma, Untold Stories of the ER, The Critical Hour, Dr. G, Mystery Diagnosis, and lots of the special shows (although as someone said, many are reruns)
OMG - I was just thinking of starting a thread like this! I love ER, Trauma: Life in the ER, and EVERYTHING else on Discovery Health Channel. I have to record everything though and watch them all when my husband is not around. He can NOT STAND the sight of blood...so I have to sneak around him so I don't gross him out. :)
I haven't tried Grey's Anatomy or House yet, but I've heard they're really good so I think I'll rent the first season and catch up on one lazy Sunday.
I only allow myself to watch three TV series at one time [on DVD - we don't have cable], and two of them are medically oriented:
Scrubs - it is actually scary how similar the humor on the show parallels mine
House - the perfect antithesis to what a good, holistic health care provider should be...and I love it. Plus, it is a great exercise in ways to violate medical ethics.
has anybody seen the special on discovery health, i can't remember the name exactly, but something like "Left Behind in the OR".. ? anyway, it's about surgical tools being left in the body after surgery and found on x-rays and such, long after the procedure, or in some cases, causing MAJOR medical problems. one of the most interesting was a man who had something removed and after the surgery, he noticed a sharp pain in his side everytime he rolled over in the bed a certain way. he never followed up on it, just learned to lay a different way in the bed. years later, when getting x-rays for something unrelated, an x-ray tech discovered a pair of scissors in his abdomen

It could be if it were a little closer to real life.
