NCLEX review books help alot for exams- but you can usually check them out of the library. I got a clinical skills book with step by step photos that really helps to review. I saved all of my old A&P notes, study guides and books and review whenever we start something new in class. Care plan and nursing diagnoses books are really helpful. I also have a little spiral notebook that write everything I might need to know during clinicals--meds we come across often, steps for procedures, lab values, anything that I can think of that I might get questioned about in clinicals. Hope this helps.

i got the clipboard at the uniform shop that sells our uniforms....hardly ever use it though.......you would be surprised at the mass of items that i go through....
copier paper, index cards,(for drugs and dx) tapes and batteries for the recorder, sturdy backpack, pens! stapler, highlighters, small note pad (fits in my pocket at clinical) paper clips, white out, (amust for !) scientific calculator, hole punch, binders, notebokks (for lecture) several nclex review books, advil, ponytail holders and barretts (for clinical) and so much more.....the list goes on, but these are the things that i use the most!

I bought my plus size hose at K-mart. Basic is what they were called. Wash them by hand and hang them to dry...they'll last awhile.
I also have a calculator that I carry (for harder dosage calc equations).
Best of all to you!

Aug 6, '02Joined: Nov '01; Posts: 510; Likes: 8I just bought:
White scrub pants (lovely...I know)
Blue scrub top
Stethescope (doesn't work very well...and one of the ear pieces only works 1/2 the time...cheap a$$ sprague they reccomended I'm going to have to either take it back or call the company)
BP cuff (came with the stethescope in a set)
I still need:
White shoes & a watch
Any suggestions about the stethescope?...is there something I could try to do to fix it? I knew I shouldn't have bought the cheapo one they provide...but I just couldn't see forking over $60 bucks for a better one for a CNA class right now...maybe later when I start my nursing classes...

Stethescope, uniforms, shoes etc, pen light, malpractice insurance (required by school), CPR class, SLED report, physical exam (I don't have health insurance right now so that was out of pocket).
These last two weeks before classes start are driving me crazy with anticipation -- I just want to get on with it!!!
