I made the Dean's list last semester with a 3.87...took Algebra, Chemistry, English 1, Psychology, Freshman Exp, and 2 required fit/well classes. This semester I got a 4.0 and took Math 1, English 2, Pharmacology, and History.

I'm 28...will be 29 when I start school this fall. My first year is to take care of chemistry, as well as some of the other stuff (A&P, microbiology, etc). I will be 30 when I start the ADN program next fall.

The FAFSA is an application for federal student aid...Lord knows I'll need it because the college I want to attend is almost 13,000 per year and we have no community colleges in my area! Seriously though, I have been surfing for algebra sites to try to prepare for the math test. I was really good at algebra in high school, but that was 11 years ago, so I still have to take math. I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I remember, but always thought you had to be an LPN before you could be an RN. I'm so happy that I finally decided to persue this! I don't know why, but I'm dreading having to take English the most!

I feel your pain! I too will need the first year for prerequisites. I guess if I felt like killing myself with work, I could try to fit them in while taking the RN coorifice, but like OBNURSEHEATHER said, that would equal out to 24 credit hours per week...and I think that would be too much for me, since I am married and have a child in school. Lol, it would also save me A LOT of money to do it that way, but I would rather do well in all of it in a slower pace than to try to cram it all together, and risk not doing well. Good luck! I just mailed off my FAFSA sheet Monday, and am in the process of filling out my application to Davis and Elkins College!

Yesterday, I mailed my FAFSA, and have the info package coming from the nursing dept. at the college I want to attend! Soon, I will be making an appointment to take the math placement test. Now, I'm just trying to figure out what classes I'll have to take in addition to the nursing. I plan on starting in the fall, and I'm not sure yet if I will try to do it all in two years or just do it in three. Wish me luck!

Thanks for writing back! I don't work, but I do have a 9 year old in school. I think the most practical and most cost effective thing for me to do would be the LPN course at the votech, and then try to find a LPN/RN bridge course...don't know if any exist around here though.

Hello everyone. I'm not sure if I've posted this in the correct place, but I wanted to ask about getting started in nursing. I would like to eventually be an ob nurse. About 5 years ago, I was going to take the LPN class at my local votech and backed out at the last minute. I have regretted it ever since. Would taking this course be the first step? Also, I never took chemistry in high school and wondered if this is something that I would need to take care of first...and also, can you think of any other subjects that might be a requirement that I may not have had in the past?
