Waiting on acceptance letter???

  1. So, I applied to nursing school and have done all of the pre-requisites, so I am now just waiting on a response. Admissions is pretty much just based on gpa and I am pretty anxious. For my school we had to apply in Jan/Feb, and are supposed to find out by June 15th, but they said we may know as soon as June 1st. I feel like I am stalking my mailbox. I am constantly checking it an waiting for a letter. Is anyone else going through this torture? How do you distract yourself? How confident are you? I'm nervous about my chances.. my gpa is only a 3.29... uggggg.

Is this for an August start? They seriously make you wait until mid June?

I am in the same boat! I applied Jan./Feb. and find out in mid-June sometime whether or not I will start in the Fall. I don't even have an exact date, but it will be via e-mail haha! Fortunately, we have many variables for determining who will get in or not. I am feeling pretty good by going off of past acceptance statistics, but still nervously waiting. Since applying, there have been a few things I have waited for. First, I had to get the e-mail confirming my application was received. Second, I waited for invitations/declinations to take the entrance exam at my school to be sent out. I got the e-mail so I had to start studying and then take it. Then I had to wait a few hours to get my results (nerve-wracking). Now, I am just waiting for official word on whether I got in or not. I am taking a couple of classes for when I want to get my BSN, working, working out, getting my immunizations looked over, and am busy being a Maid of Honor. Even though I am feeling pretty good and my professors all say I am definitely getting in, the wait is killing me!

Also in the same boat. Applied Jan-Feb, and every class before us has found out around second week of june.
I really just want to call the school every day to see if they've even sent out the letters.

I'm supposed to hear back the week of the 29th, so this week. I'm fairly confident, but one part of my application has me nervous. Acceptance to this program is based off a point system. This includes grades in the pre-requisites, prior work experience in the medical field, place of residence, TEAS test results, and if you have a previously earned degree. My overall gpa is a 3.89, however just looking at my pre-requisites it's a 4.0. I was also a medic in the army. And I live in the city where the program is. I don't have any prior degrees, but I'm really worried about my teas test results. The minimum score that they take is the national average which is 69, and I got a 79 but I'm still worried that it's too low. There's usually about 150 applicants, but only 35 spots so I'm starting to get really worried. And I know the post office isn't open tomorrow so I know the soonest I'll find out is Tuesday and it's driving me crazy.

Yeah.. It's no fun. It could be worse though, some of my friends at other schools won't find out until July.

Same here. I applied the first week of January. I heard the notifications would come out mid June. As far as what I do to not go crazy about it... I do not. The more I think about it, the more anxious I become. I guess think positively! I know easy said than done, but it is what it is. It will come sooner than you think!

I'm waiting on my acceptance too... Should hear something in the next couple of weeks. I have a pretty good chance of being selected, but there's always that "what if?".
I try not to think about it - if I don't get accepted the world will keep spinning, and I'll just do my best and apply again.

Our school released letters early May. There is typically 180 applicants for 60 spots. I chose not to hedge on one school, but I was really nice to have a couple of choices.

Sounds like my school. I submitted my application in February. We won't hear anything until halfway through next month. I wasn't anxious because school kept my mind off of it. Now that classes are over, I can't stop thinking about it. I just want to see if I got in. It was the only school I applied to. I think I have a good chance of getting in but you never know. Good luck, everyone!

Oh the memories. I was temporrarily distracted because I started a new job. But every morning I would head to the post office to check my mail. After about 2 months I got fed up and changed my address from the p.o. box to my home address. But then I would still check my P.o. box in case I changed my address too late. They sent the envelope to my home address, and i was excited. I've gotten the rejection letternin the past, but this was a big envelope. I knew I had gotten in. Hold on!

Are you sure it's a letter and not an email that you're waiting for?
