Ok. So I just had my first socialogy class and I have to pick a movie with a strong socialogical theme.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?

When I was in sociology a few years ago, we watched "Mosquito Coast" with Harrison Ford in class. It has some great sociological themes.

Seems like ages ago, but one of the best we videos we watched in Soc was a PBS? documentary on the murder of Emitt Till, and the Fed's reopened the case last year, which makes it currently relavent.

"Animal Farm" is a great one. Huge sociological statement.
Another great one for sociology is The Star-bellied Sneetch movie based on the Dr. Suess book.

The Outsiders!
plus you get to see a very young Matt Dillion, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, and Patrick freakin' Swayze. That movie takes me back to 8th grade when me and my friends thought we "discovered" it. :chuckle
