How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

hi! i am in my third semester out of four for adn-rn program. i have a bachelor's in behavioral science/gerontology, but have always been facinated by medicine. i just received confirmation of being a nurse intern in orthopaedics for the summer. i am sooooooo psyched seeing the internship program was so competitive. i'm married and have two dogs!

kim, welcome and congratulations on your intern position!

much continued success to you.

Hi everyone, my name is Kevin and I am 33. I have been reading a lot of messages on this site for the last few weeks. I am hooked! I am finding that I am spending way too much time on this site each time I sit down at the computer. However, I am getting a lot of great information. After spending years working on a computer science degree, I have now changed my interest to nursing. Luckily I have finished almost all the prerequisites and have applied for the RN program this fall. I am excited and ready to start. I am glad to see so many helpful and encouraging people. This is a great site!

Hey everyone! My name is Sue and I'm 34. I am married to a youth pastor who will be graduating from grad school in May so this fall will be MY TURN to go back to school. We have two kids, 11 & 8. I started nursing school in '86 at 18 years old and loved it but couldn't handle being yelled at by my instructors ( I was a very sheltered child :p ) so I switched to business. Now after 14 years of totally tedious office work (I love to work with people) I am now going back to finish what I started. I am so excited! I have been reading all these posts all week and they just get me more and more ready to go. I look forward to many chats with all of you!

:p Hi! My name is Tricia and I am in my second semester of a 2 year ADN program. I hope to graduate in May 2004. I have been married to a wonderfully, romantic man for 11 1/2 years. I have 2 boys 8 & 3 and a beagle who thinks he's my baby. If you would have told me that was going to be a nurse when I was 20, I would have told your crazy. However, I truly believe I have found my calling. I look forward to clinicals every week. I have been looking at this board for the last couple of days and have had a lot of my own questions answered. I look forward to future discussions and hope I can be of help and answer some of your questions. Good Luck to you all and keep striving for your dreams.

Hello, I am Empress, not my real name, I prefer to remain private.

I live with my SO in Texas and we have a beautiful 1 yr old daughter.

I am an EMT-Paramedic with 2 years experience working for a 911 service for a big city, I am not currently working though. I really love doing it and would like to continue in EMS even after getting my RN.

I am in my mid-20s.

Lastly, I am a nursing student, currently on hiatus to care for my child, but will be finishing up my ADN (I have 2 semesters to go!) at a local community college starting in the fall.

:p Hi! Empress

Welcome to the party.:roll :chuckle :kiss

Hi all! My name is Gracey. I am 28 years old and applying to an LPN program in NYC. Not working now, no kids, no hubby, so I thought it was the best time to go into school. Application in the mail today so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Is there anyone else from the city here?

Love reading all of your posts. They have educated me greatly on my career change.

Okay, enough lurking around here ... I'm officially starting to post and I guess I better introduce myself first ....

My name is Stasia ... I am 29 and live in Southern California with my husband and 10 year old son. I am a Human Resources Manager but have been accepted into the Nursing Program for my ADN starting in August of this year. I've never been more excited in my life!

I tried hard to avoid Nursing and tried many other routes but I always found myself wanting to go back to school and get my RN. My dad, sister, grandma and great-grandma are all nurses ... so why fight it? ;)

Love this board and look forward to many years of talking with all of you!
