How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

first let me say, welcome rhonda!originally posted by rhoresmithhello
i joined this board a few weeks ago, having been taking pre-reqs for adn found out today that i did not make it to the fall 03 class, and on the stand-by list have a possibility of getting in but was so disappointed.... director of nursing program said i am assured of getting in the lpn program so i will be a nurse but my goal is to be a nursepractioner so starting at lpn makes more time. i am in algebra, psyc, speech, bio, and rhett and comp(english), have a 3.75 gpa and i am 42 yrs old and have 3 children 20, 16, 12 and one beautiful grandson 18mos
grandchildren are a gift from god !!!! when things are bad i just spend an hour with him and his laugh and everything is better!!!
two brothers heading for war so god bless our soldiers and keep them safe!!!!

i would keep the faith about your possibly starting the program this fall. there are some students accepted who may not show up or quit for what ever reason/s doing the first week or so.
yes, children are a blessed gift from god!
prayes go with your brothers as they head to protect us and may god keep them safe along with those yet waiting to go and those who are already there.
let us know what program you start in and please, don't let go of your dreams.

This is where I should have started.
My name is LaVorne Smith and I am a 34 (35 in July)y.o. USAF wife with no kids.....YET!!!! MAN am I working on it!!!!! Anyway I just graduated from an ADN program in Anchorage Alaska at UAA(Univ. Of Alaska Anch.) last May. My husband was in Honduras for 15months so I could finish school before our time was up in Alaska. He came home for graduation and we drove to Florida where we are now stationed. I took my boards Feb12. and found out I passed online on Valentine's Day. I got my license a month ago but can't work yet. We were in a near fatal car wreck 2 weeks after graduation last May and we both broke most bones. We are both doing okay and I should be able to work by this summer, God willing. I am very excited to get on with life after spending 4 months in a hospital bed next to my husband(we supersized the beds-pushed them together). I have actually been to the beach here and in a bikini in spite of these horrible scars. Turn em into stars, right? I love this place-you guys are so supportive and funny and give the best advice. I can't stay away. SMOOCHES!!!!!
