We're all together for lecture, but split into three separate groups of 9 for clinicals. I'm curious what the drop out rate is myself, maybe I'll find out this week during orientation. At the college I went to for my prereqs they took about 64 and lost several the first year and put several others on academic probation...

Jun 1, '04Joined: Jan '04; Posts: 20The first semester we started with 34, the second semester we ended with 33. And we just started our third semester one week ago with 31. We actually had three decide not to go on, they were satisified with being an LPN and we had one new one join our class. Nobody has been kicked out or failed out. I am in the evening/weekend class and I have heard that the day class has not been as lucky. I think out of 54, 20 have quit, not sure if it is grade related or other situations. But I know that the evening/weekend students are kicking the day students butt on exams. : )~
Sorry I had to throw that in there, we have some rivalry between day and evening classes.

Our class started with 48; one dropped out during first semester for personal reasons, two during second semester as they were failing, and I've heard an additional three failed at the end of second semester. So we're now down to 42. They've hired an additional instructor, so we'll actually be up to 56 in the Fall--some of the previous seniors who failed 3rd semester will join our class, as well as some transfers.
We've been told it's unusual that more didn't fail 2nd semester--the instructors claim we're one of the strongest classes they've seen in a long time. Nurses/admins at local facilities have told us during clinical that the "buzz" in the community is we're a smart class--I hope that means we'll get our pick of job offers!

Anyhow, our year class is 72 students split into two sections/classes of 36. We start the 22nd, with registration and student ID photos taken next Wednesday! :hatparty:

We started out with 80 last fall in my ADN program. The first semester we lost 14 (5 dropped 9 failed), but gained 8 from the previous class for the second semester. Well the grades for second semester (med/surg) came in a few weeks ago and now we're down to 52 people for the fall (that includes 4 LPNs that are joining us for the 2nd year and 3 people that dropped the second semester). I guess A LOT of people got a 73 or a 74 average in the med/surg class, but you need a 75 to pass. I think that might be the biggest wipe-out my school has seen in a while.
Holy Molely...I feel lucky
