Hello :)
About 2 months ago, I started an online student nurse support group using AOL Instant Messenger. We are all student nurses who use this forum, and we like to get together when we happen to be online.
Many members of the group have asked me to find experienced nurses in the ICU and NICU, L&D, ER, Cardiac, Home Health, Med-Surg nurse that would be willing to field questions from the other members. The only requirements are that you are not the "eat the young type", as we are students, and that is not the kind of support that we need. We use AOL Instant Messenger to chat, and if you use this service, and would be willing to mentor a few students from all over the globe, please reply to this message, and I will make sure that All members of the support group get your screen name added to their lists. We currently have 50 members, and are growing every day.
Thank you to OBNurseHeather, and YalondaF for signing up to mentor us already, we sure appreciate it!
Thanks!

I knew that AOL was out for you, otherwise I would have already asked you :)
Ill make sure the group knows that if they have ICQ, you are someone they can turn to :)

You can give out my AOL IM nick, Jen911RN
I'm currently working ER, and have also worked on a Neuro/Onc/ENT unit. I graduated about 2 1/2 years ago, so being a student is still "fresh" in my mind.
Happy Labor Day! (my shift is complete, no more laboring for me today!) :D :D

Hiya Brandy!
AOL IM name is Kristina M Day (wow...complex and difficult to discern, I know... ). Be happy to mentor if you need another L&D nurse, although I'm sure Heather does a fine job. :)
Let me know the times you have your support group if you need me.

You can add me, MRed94, I will be happy to help. I have 15 years in as an LPN, I am also an EMT, and a Surgical Tech. I have spent many years in LTC, but have seen just about all kinds of patients come through here.
Let me know if I can help.

Brandy if you need more people, sign me up. Many years ER with a very well developed self paced learning module that I use for newbies. Getting the right mentor is the most important part. I agree, you need to stay clear of the eaters. New nurses should be nourished - NOT nourishment. Spudflake @ AOL. Come

Hi Brandy,
We just got a free year of aol with new computer. I hate it, it's like a little vius that has attached itself to every single thing in my puter, BUT, feel free to add me to your list. I love to work with students and new nurses.
I am [email protected] screen name vnarnnj, real original, I know!
20 years exp, most of that in ICU's and cardiac critical care, last few years in home health, which I love! I am making a decision at present whether I am going to pursue a wound care cert program. One of my pt's said "You'd be very smart to do it." He says wounds are big business, "You should see that waiting room at the wound center! I love doing wound care and do a lot of reading about it.
Looking forward to meeting with you guys soon, even though I don't completely understand this aim thing yet.
