Class of 2006 - page 13
Hey yall! Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006? Roll call! :) I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I... Read More
Oct 16, '03Manna, I got a letter from Chatt State on Tuesday after I got home from clinicals. They are not going to let me transfer which is a huge bummer. Apparently, the 2 programs weren't compatible enough. I will just reapply next year, there are 2 schools in the area so my chances will be better I think. We are going to try and buy a house in Chatt because we will be there for a while, because if I have to drop out and start over, then I am staying put until I am done with radiation therapy school. So now I have to stress of buying a house instead of the stress of school. It will all work out in the end I guess. Thanks for asking, when do you get your new Jeep?
Oct 16, '03Congrats, Agent! Any A is a good A.
I've got an A&P II lab exam tonight. I'm not sweating yet...but probably should be. I haven't "studied" much at all lately. It's over the muscles & the CNS. I hope I've got it all down.
So far I've got an A in my NAT class & a B in A&P. I want an A in A&P, darnit! Concentrating on that way more than the Nurse Aid class. But that's a cake-walk class for me, so I can afford it.
Hoping & praying that I don't have the same instructor for A&P III!
Bummer about not being able to transfer, anelac1978! That bites.
Oct 17, '03Well it is a class for the nursing program, so an A is good, just need to get 3 more to get an A in the course.
I figured out how to make 04 work for me.
spring 04 Gen Bio > Summer 04 A&P > Fall 04 - Spring 05 First nursing clinicals > Summer 05 Micro
Oct 17, '03Agent - lucky duck! All the schools around here, you seem to have to have all your pre-reqs finished before you can even begin nursing courses.
Angela - I'm so sorry to hear that, what a bummer. So are you going to drop out of the program you're in now since it won't transfer? How soon will you gets end up moving to TN? Good luck with the house hunt!
The tentative ship date on the Jeep was yesterday, so it should be here in 7-10 calendar days. I can't wait!!!
Only problem I figured out about winning the Jeep, it's bumping me up into a much higher income level on my taxes, so I'm afraid I won't qualify for much/any financial aid next fall.. and I was hoping I could quit my job/go to school FT/live on grants/loans in 2004.
Oct 17, '03Cool! I hope it works out that way for you...that would be good!
I just took our first A&P II lab exam last night...I think I did well. I know I got 1 wrong for sure, but I think that was it...maybe 2. Will find out next Thursday for sure. I felt really good about it and was one of the first ones in the class to finish. I was glad I knew all the muscles & parts of the brain as well as I did! Totally made up for the crappy lecture exam a couple weeks ago (got an 83 on it).
Oct 17, '03Good luck with A&P, Amyliz.
A lot of people in my nutrition class last night were pulling out their A&P notes to study during breaks.... I'm glad that class is over with (although I did really enjoy it).
Glad I took it before nutrition, so far we're covering some of the same stuff (makes for less studying, anyway).
Oct 17, '03I really enjoy my A&P classes so far. They're tough (especially the lecture exams this quarter), but I really enjoy learning everything. Thinking about taking a higher level A&P class eventually if I run out of classes to take & am still on the waiting list.
Oct 17, '03Manna, I am going to finish out this semester because if I drop out, it will screw up my financial aid. And anyway, anything I learn this semester will give me that more of an edge when I start back again next year.
Oct 23, '03How's everybody's semester going?
I FINALLY got caught up in my Geography class, and I have an A so far.. hope I can keep it up until the end of the semester. Just another 6 weeks or so, so not too long. I think my Art Appreciation prof is kind of flaky... he keeps talking about UFOs in ancient art, and hasn't really updated our grade sheet very often. (these are both online classes)
Last week, I started an 8-week intensive nutrition course. So far it's been fun, it really has me thinking about my own health and that I certainly don't eat a very balanced diet. Doesn't seem like it's going to be too incredibly hard either, since some of what we're covering in there we went through in A&P.
I go for my first EVER parent-teacher conference with my son's K-5 teacher at noon today. Hope that he's been behaving well in school and I don't get a bad report.
Also found out that the Jeep I won shipped out from OH last Friday (17th), so I'm VERY anxiously and impatiently awaiting its arrival here!
Oct 23, '03Very cool about the Jeep, manna. You're the first person I've ever known to ever win something big like that! How cool!
Fall quarter is 1/2 over now. I've got a B in A&P II, which is really ticking me off. I should have an A! I need to crack down & study even harder I guess. Grrr. As if I hadn't been studying hard in the first place. Anywho...got some good news on Tuesday. It seems that my instructor for A&P I will be teaching A&P III next quarter! Yay! I really liked him (and got an A in his class), so I'm going to hopefully get into his class next quarter.
Got an A in my Nurse Aid Training class. No difficult feat there. It's such an easy class. I've got 100% so far in there & only have 5 more quizes and a final to go. Oh, and clinicals too, but that's pass/fail.
Oct 23, '03Thanks Amy! I've never known anyone to win anything big either.. my parents are so funny. They go around telling everyone about it!
I've never understood the quarter system.. we go by semesters here. So you have fall/winter/spring/summer terms? How many hours can you take in a quarter?
Great news on the A&P prof. I got lucky and was able to take A&P I & II and Micro all from the same lady.. and all at night! I really enjoyed her as a teacher!
Sounds like you're doing great! Good luck with the rest of A&P, and thanks for the update.
