Class of 2006

Nursing Students General Students

Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

Thats cool Amy. My wife had to do the CNA course as well. She got accepted to nursing school, but decided to have 2 babies instead

So now Im doing it.. ironic?

Good news on the classes here... Although I ended up having to drop chem and lit, I found a late-starting/half-term nutrition course that I'm going to begin next week. It only lasts 8 weeks, so I can handle that. Plus, one more pre-req out of the way, leaving me to only have to complete 3 major courses next semester! WOOHOO!

And if I could CLEP lit, that'd leave just ethics and Chem... I'm nervous about trying a CLEP, though!

Good for you. I was hoping to get into some late starting classes.

If one comes up for BIO I'm on it

I might be able to get my LPN by 06'. Gosh, i Hope so! I'm going to apply for the program next year (04) for that following summer. (05') It's an 18month course. So maybe i can get in on the tail end of 2006! I plan to continue on for my R.N, so i have a few years to go yet.

Manna, are you able to take correspondence courses? if so, you might be able to take that lit that way. If they are set up anything like they are here, you have up to a year to complete them, although I completed college algebra in about 2 months. I also wouldn't worry about CLEPing out of lit. I really think you would be able to do it, I CLEPed out of Freshman English way back when. Good luck on the nutrition class, I don't remember half of the one I took, I slept through most of it I think. ;)

Or how 'bout an on-line lit class? H

I've taken about 10 classes online so far... I was signed up for Lit online this semester, but due to personal problems and problems with the prof (she was unreachable most of the beginning of the semester, albeit not her fault - she had a family emergency, but it still made getting feedback on papers, etc difficult).

I don't mind online classes, but I'm just trying to lessen my load for next semester - I've discovered as much as I want to, I just cannot balance 4 classes, my job, and my kids.. . not to mention my husband is going to be moving 60 miles away to take a job, and is very frustrated with me that I'm not moving with him right away.

(Hey Angela, he decided to take a job in the town where I got accepted to the RT program, he's trying to get me to re-apply for that next year instead of nursing - they don't have a BSN program there)

isn't it amazing the curveballs that life throws you? are you thinking of reapplying to the RT program? I can tell you based on my experiences so far, rad tech school is awesome and it's fun. True it's a lot of work, but it's work that I don't mind doing. We start clinicals next week and I am totally nervous/excited. I went in to work last night to bid on the schedule that I want if/when we move, so that's one less thing I have to worry about. I just hope that they let me transfer schools. I have already put my hubby on notice that if they don't, I will not be a happy camper for about 6 months. We'll see I guess.

Are you thinking of moving with your hubby when this semester is over? If you did go the RT route, have you thought of specializing? I have pretty much decided to go into rad therapy (although diagnostic x-ray is pretty cool too!) and rad therapists make quite a bit more than a diagnostic tech. It's a lot to consider I know, especially when you think you have your life planned out, and then something happens to mess up your plans. What's that saying, "men plan, God laughs" or something like that. Let us know what you decide

ps, how are feeling? we had the "crud" going around at school the past few weeks, I have been lucky so far not to pick it up.

i got my first test back from my communications course and got an A. hoorah.

Angela - I haven't really decided. I don't know what's going on with me lately, I just haven't felt myself. Years ago I was dx with a mental disorder, but went off meds when I got pregnant with my 1st son because they were toxic. Lately I'm wondering if something similar isn't resurfacing it's ugly head. Only problem with living in such a small town where everybody-knows-everybody, you either get the "buck up and deal with it" response or lots of gossip/rumors flying around. UGH

Have you heard back from the school in TN yet?

Agent - Congrats.. I'm not surprised. No doubts in my mind that you're not a great student, heh.

Hip hip, Agent!! Good for you. I just got an exam back in Adv. Physio, got a C-! Hoorah, for me. I generally get D's or F's at first exam and climb up from there. So this is great for me. I will climb to a B, just watch me!

P.S. One down, 2 to go. (exams that is)

I'm definitely starting Fall of 04. I don't care what I have to do. [/b]

Sounds like me, No one (or thing) is getting in my way!

My A&P II class is a killer as well. Just took the second exam on Resp and Immune system...ugh! I have the hardest prof on campus, but, he's good and explains things well, it's just his test are based heavily on critical thinking. Good practice for nursing school.
