yeah I decided to go through AC as I already have a full pell grant which will pay for it. I am excited too, the only thing is I heard we dont do as much hands on through AC as they do through tyler county, do you think thats true?

I'm not too sure about the hands on part. My wife went through their RN program a fews years ago and said there was alot of hands on but she doesn't know about the LVN track.

I am going to Kirkwood Community College in Iowa. Thought I'd never get in. LOL
I was wondering... I'm currently a student a Kirkwood Community College @ Cedar Rapids, IA and almost done with my pre-reqs for the nursing program. Do you mind if I ask what you got on your TEAS?? I'm worried that I didn't score high enough to get into the program Fall 2010. Thanks.

I too am going next year to UT Tyler BSN Program Spring 2010. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have been applying to many schools such as UTMB, UT houston, TWU Houston 2x, and HBU, got rejected, and this time I finally got accepted at UT Tyler. All I have to do is my CPR class which is on Dec 11th and Im good to go for Jan 11th , 2010 to be exact. My advice to everyone, if nursing is where your heart is, never give up on it, keep applying to as many schools as you can. Getting a "rejection letter" sux, but it lets you crave nursing even more, but getting an "acceptance letter" is one of the best feelings you can ever get in your life. Perseverance and patience does pay off. Keep going for it future nurses, and good luck to everyone next semester...

Hi all! I got my acceptance letter a few months ago for Spring 2010 for RN! It's starting to get really close! We had our first orientation November 6th. There they gave us tons of papers to sign and an outlook of what the next 2 years will look like for us (i'm doing ADN) they also went over uniforms, we registered for classes, gave us a list of our books, making a portfolio starting now keeping all of our paperwork in it, and talked a lot about different things. We have our 2nd orientation December 18. At that orientation we have to turn in our background checks, physical forms, proof of liability insurance, and proof of CPR. I have everything done except CPR, taking it next weekend. I have already been certified through Red Cross, but that isn't acceptable, it has to be through American Heart Association. We have to turn in these things on December 18, if not were automatically kicked out. (Yikes, luckily the only thing I have left is CPR.) Anyways, aside from all that we have some classes to attend before school starts. December 17 we attend Discover Nursing at the local hospital. They take us all around the hospital to show behind the scenes of what it is like to be a nurse. They said we will specifically visit the ED and L&D. The next class is January 5,6,7. These are all day classes called success course. They said basically this will introduce us to nursing and what it is all about and different rules and a orientation to our first class. Then January 8 is hospital orientation. This is just to show us around the hospital, go over some basic hospital rules and such. The hospital is huge and said many times it can overwhelm students just going there, so they do it before to make our first day of clinicals a little easier. Anyways, that's all for now, goodluck to all the nurses starting in January. We need to keep this going and keep each other updated on how were doing throughout school!

Time seems to be flying by as I got accepted in July! Doesn't seem so long ago. Everyone ready to take this crazy ride called nursing school?

Sorry I'm just now responding, I haven't been to this tread in awhile. My TEAS score was 81.2. I sat for the TEAS in Sept. and they sent me a letter in Oct. saying I was accepted into the nursing program for January.
