34 yo male, just went back to school in the spring, ofcourse I didnt get any classes that counted being my first semester back, but Im optimistic about the whole thing, when my girlfriend went through the whole ordeal it took her about 5 years total from start to finish but shes glad she did, I hope it doesnt take that long for me... but if so... eh. I'm in CNA training now, its a dirty job but I figure... it is nursing, and I actually like it (odd) after all pt care is what its all about..... right? 3 more weeks and I get out of the training program then I can concentrate on my summer anatomy course I signed up for..UGH!

Well thats my 2 bits :) Wishing all the new students and near grads the best of luck and keeping my fingers crossed for myself :)

Hello

I'm 26 years old and will be in the core nursing classes in fall 2004. I have one more required pre req to take this fall and for the summer just taking some math and poli sci. I am shooting for becoming a NP, but for now I just want to get through RN!

Good luck to all of you!

Hi All!

I am a 32 yo mom of one 12 yo. I will be moving 50 mile from my current home this fall for nursing school. I am sad and happy at the same time. I will be leaving my daughter with her father while I am in school (because schools are better in our town), and am happy because I have worked really hard to get into nursing school. (was turned down by first school I applied at) I am very proud of myself and I think that all of my family is as well. Good luck to everyone, I know how hard it can be.

Ok, my turn. I am a 32 yr old mom of 2 wonderful sons ages 10 and almost 8. I have a supportive husband who helps as much as he can, and I also pull down a job. I feel like WONDER WOMAN most of the time.

I too, went to school many years ago, screwed around and now here I am again. The difference this time is it is MY CHOICE to be here.

I just applied (in April) to Nursing school for my lower and upper divisional courses. I will find out JULY 15 if I was accepted and then on AUGUST 30 I will find out if my upper division placement was for where I asked.

MY GOAL: AA and AS by next May, begin low div nursing and finish with a BSN 1 1/2 yrs later. Begin to work and then start my MASTERS program and EVENTUALLLLLLLLLY end with a NP.

MY oldest will be 16 by that point, PATHETIC!

This is the hardest job Ive ever done. I feel like I am juggling all the time!

I forgot to mention, Ive been at this for a whopping 3 years already. The program I am in is a 4 1/2 to 5 yr program. LOL!!

I know I should've asked this at the beginning of this thread but how old will you be once you finish your program? I'll be "32" when I finish.....doesn't look as bad as it sounds....lol....just joking!!!

Fatima

I'll be 31 when I get done with LPN and 32 when I go back to finish my Rn which will put me at 33 when I am all done.

Hi all!! I'm Jen & I am 34 years old, married - going on 12 years, 2 kids - ages 5 & 8 & I am getting ready to go into my 2nd semester of nursing school in good ol' Kansas City, Kansas! We'll be doing Med-Surg & Psych for the next 16 weeks. I've heard it's tough, but I've also heard 1st semester is the worst, so who knows what to expect!! I just started a job working prn at a local hospital as a pct on the med-surg floor, so I'm hoping it will help me with school although I don't expect to be able to work a whole lot when school starts again in late August, so I'm trying to work as much as I can this summer. I'm hoping to graduate in Dec. '04! Not sure where I want to work yet. I'm thinking peds, L/D or maybe ER. I figure I'll decide more when I do my OB/Peds rotation 3rd semester!

And that's my story!! Glad to see so many others around my age out there!! Good luck to everyone!!!!!:)

Hi Everyone! I just found this forum. I am a 27 year old student. I just got accepted to the ADN program for the Fall. I am finishing A&P II next month (July) and then I will be finished with all of my support classes. I have been a stay at home mom since my first child was born. He is now 5 1/2 and starting kindergarten this year. His little sister, whose just turned 4, will be starting at preschool while I'm in classes/clinicals. My DH is a medical recruiter and is being very supportive. We are in the DFW area and I will be attending Brookhaven. I would love to hear from anyone who has been/is currently in the program here.

Holli

Hello everyone, I have been a lurker for a few weeks now and have decided to enter my first post to this board. I am 34, single with no children. I was a combat medic (Paramedic) in the Army for 3 years and worked in an Urgent Care for 7. I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist (Independent) and a Commercial Pilot (With no hopes of a job). I guess you could say that I am no stranger to the classroom setting. I have just been accepted into the local ASN program and will begin in Aug. and I can graduate with my AA in Liberal Arts if I want to (would like to see the GPA a little higher before I apply to graduate). It has been a long journey to say the least and the fun is just begining.

Currently I have completed all of my Pre-reqs and Co-reqs for the ASN program and will not be considered a full time student even though I am begining the ASN program. My ultimate goal is to become a CRNA so I am going to "try" to get some of the pre-reqs of the Masters program out of the way while I am in the ASN program (that would boost me to full time status). I guess you could say that I am not getting any younger and I am trying my best to degree "hop" from ASN right into the BSN and then into the Masters CRNA. I am going for the ASN first in hopes of securing the 1-2 years of ICU experience (required for CRNA) in conjunction with completing the BSN program. By the time I graduate with my BSN I should have all of the requirements to apply for the CRNA program and one of the Universities here in Florida.

I have found these boards to be extremely helpful and full of wonderful people who are accomplishing what they set out to do, I am grateful to have found this board.
