I realize some of you may thing this may be stupid, but while I have been here since 98' I really don't know any of you? We sit here and discuss things, vent, sometimes I have seen each other cut others down for no apparent reason. The names listed in the subject heading, just happened to be a few of the people that I most commonly see post, or end up in discussions with. there are many others, like Mustangsheba, etc.

What I thought might be a good idea (and I'm sure I'll be ridiculed and labasted with sarcasm for this one), was for the people that post or come here reguularly, to get o know each other a little better. Kinda of like intros? Since we seem to be bopping around the same issues and posts?

I'll start?

Rick RN CEN (with all the the other ER mumbo jumbo garbage, TNCC,MICN, etc etc)

Level II Trauma center - worked as an RN for 5 years, all in the ER. Cleveland, Ohio

If no one else responds, thats fine....let it fall to the bottom.......out

Sharran -

I am actually suprised somone answered to this? I was expecting to get leveled for sure, since that seems to be the way around here the last couple months. Frankly? I am tired of watching everybody cut down on each other I will have no part of it.

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick!

I've only posted a few times but read the BB on a daily basis just to keep up with the current issues. I agree with you, there is way too much cutting down of each other on this BB. I think nurses should be a more cohesive group and we shouldn't spend so much time trying to better each other. I've been an RN for 2 years, worked in the medical field for the last 15 years in some capacity e.g. medical transcriptionist, medical assistant, CNA, LPN, you name it. Worked in tele for a while and now work for the local county health dept and love it. Thanks for the great idea of introducing ourselves to one another!....Terri

Specializes in Peds Homecare.

CEN35....Hi...I'm an LPN and have been since 12/79 when I graduated from school. I have worked alot a places in 21 yrs. In 1985 I started doing homecare and kind of grew along with it. High tech pediatric homecare is really my love and specialty. My patients have been as young as 3months...and my last full time case was a guy 19 with duchennes muscular dystrophy..vent dependent. I tried a new job recently in social work( a friend talked me into it..she was my boss) Well for the first time ever I got let go last week. They told me they were changing the program I was working in and because I wasn't a csw(certified social worker) they didn't need me anymore. I was really bummed out for a few days. But I chalked up to a life lesson..NEVER GO TO WORK FOR A FRIEND. So right now I am doing alot of thinking about what I really want to do. Not really sure what direction my life is going right now. So this is me...my real name is Colleen. Oh and I like to know about astrological signs and how they match up with the persons personality...I'm a cancer. Bye

Hi Everyone,

My name is Dale. I am a RN, BSN with PALS, ACLS, and TNCC. I have been a RN for 5 years. I also work in the ER in a level 2 trauma center. I have been in my current position for 3 years. I have previously worked 1 year in Acute Psych Unit and 1 year cardiac (telemetry) unit. However, I am transferring back to the psych unit at the end of next week. I know I won't like this position as much as the ER but I have applied for the MSN, FNP program and they are willing to work around my school schedule if I get in. I will know in May whether I get accepted or not. In the ER I had to use my vacation and PTO time to complete my BSN degree (2 years without a vacation). So I really am in need of a vacation this year (LOL). Sorry if I rambled. See you on the BB.

My name is Timothy [Tim for short]. I am 29 years old, and I began this adventure we call nursing as a nurses aide at the age of 16. I worked at a nursing home that was 3 blocks from the house I grew up in. I worked through the ranks of LPN, RN/BSN, and currently have my MSN/CRNP. I am licensed as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and am currently working on my Ph.D. in Health Science Education. I am also licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator and a Personal Care Home Administrator.

On a personal level, I have a wonderful sister who is also an RN, and just received her Ph.D. from the same University in New York where I receieved my Master's from. I am terrified of children and women in labor, which complicates my life as I just became a great uncle. He's the neatest little kid, i'm just afraid of 'breaking' him-he's so tiny!!!

I am also an avid weight lifter & kind of a 'health' nut.

This was fun.... it is nice to 'meet' you all.

Hi Rick-

Great idea!

I'm Susan, RN, BSN. I am 28 years old. Been a nurse for 3 years. Worked L&D full time nights for 1 year, then went to work for an insurance company for 1 year but still stayed on staff at the hospital and worked once a week, then in September 2000 left the insurance business and went back to full time staff nursing in L&D for two hospitals.

Incidently, I just got a job at a clinic doing OB triage which I plan to do full time, and still staff both hospitals part time. Naturally it was a pay cut. frown.gif

I plan on going back to school for my MSN - would LOVE to teach either nursing students or out in the community. My interests lie mainly with Women's Health issues and current research.

Kristina, I've felt we had alot in common - we just built a house and I too am all into gardening (although I am a beginner) I love birdfeeding/watching - just got a brand new pair of binoculars!
