torn between CALIFORNIA or ILLINOIS

hi everbody! i want to know your opinion. which is a better place to start my career as a nurse? im going to file my nclex next month and im torn between these 2 places.i have visited both but i can't still decide. maybe you can help me.. like telling me the advantages and the disadvantages..thanks a lot, if you know any good hospital or recuiting agency..pls pm me. thanks again

so you are able to be licensed in more than one state a a time? i live in ky but am attending school in illinois, i only live about 20 miles over the state line, and the nursing office was saying that i would have to choose to get my license in ky or illinois. but actually i was hoping to be able to be licensed in both states. or maybe florida eventually...lol

i just graduated from an il nursing school and it is true you have to pick one or the other states, but you can get a bistate license- after you recieve one you can apply for the other. i am getting my mo license first and then my il.

I live in southern IL and if pay is a deciding factor I have heard that CA pays more. The pay in the northern part of the state is not bad though.

California definitely has the longest time with petition for a green card over any other state. Wait time for that alone is about 8 months and actually may be getting longer. It hasn't gotten any shorter, that is for sure. :uhoh3:

Depends on how long you want to wait BEFORE legally working. :)

California is a hell hole. Over run with illegal aliens that have more rights than a citizen. Avoid the political correctness as long as you can. Strive for a realistic, common sense, common folks, picket fence exsistance for as long as you can. California is a rat race. Remember: No matter if you win or lose the rat race, your still a rat......

California is the pit of hell. It is expensive, hot and crowded. I am from the east coast and it is so much nicer

I've lived on the East Coast. Like California, it depends on where you live, but it can be crowded, hot and congested too.

And you think California has exclusive jurisdiction on the rat race? There's plenty of rat race everywhere, not just in California.

I just can't take the hot summers of Illinois and the midwest. Too dang hot!

i have been in both states and its really confusing, thanks again for all of you that have replied..i will take all of it into consideration. im from the philippines so i am more comfortable with cali's warm and humid (heheheh) weather. :)
