Shoes with Wheels! Would you want to try them?

Tonight at the grocery store, this young kid sailed past me down one of the aisles (rows?) wearing a pair of shoes with little wheels in the bottom. And it got me thinking.....what if??? The kid was really in control with these shoes on, stopping, starting, turning, etc. And when she had to help her mom push the cart out to the lot, just popped the little wheels back into the bottom of the shoes, and they were like regular shoes again. Just for laughs, anyone actually seen nurse try to wear these in the hospital? Would you ever want to try them? Could you imagine how much easier it could be on your knees? Do you think it would actually be allowed? LOL, it makes me laugh to just think about zipping up and down the halls from the nursing station with one push off. :roll

Just today, I was at a stop sign in a parking lot. There was a big pillar obstructing my view of the exit of a store. While I was stopped, a woman crossed in front of me with two little girls. I got ready to go and out of nowhere her two sons flew out from behind the pillar on those skates--never looked. Almost hit them.

I think they are adorable, and would get a pair for myself (but probably be too chicken to wear them to work!) LOL!

But then again, I rollerblade in the summer months too!

I skate too, pretty much year round as long as the roads are not snow or ice covered.

My first experience was at a grocery store. I did a double take as this youg boy was traversing across the floor without the usual walking motion. I realized his shoes had one wheel on the heel. I haven't seen the two wheeeled version on the street.

I think the residents would get a kick out of me skating down the hall but I would never do it. I'm sure my boss would not see the humor in it.

Good grief, no!! I'd break my hip!:lol2:

While the thought is fun, it is too big a liability to even consider.

I was at K-mart a couple of days ago and a kid went zipping by, a little time passed the kid came back and hit the concrete floor hard. While the K-mart staff and the kids parents talked of going to the hospital for X-rays and the L distal forearm was turning red....still another kid went zipping past.

I am getting more fragile too.

Had a lady 3 days after Christmas, ulnar-radial fx, from falling off her daughter's Christmas present heelies. "Come on Mom! Just try them!"

I know what would happen if I tried these. My feet would go one way, my a** would go the other, and I would come down with a crash that would rattle the walls!

LOL!

I would end up BEING the patient if I tried to wear those at work. lol

I love it! Could you imagine how much more efficient we would all be sailing down the halls? And what a back-saver!! Not to mention comic relief for patients and families!

Well that was my first thought when I saw them.....then the kid just clicked the wheels back into this little hidden pocket, and they were like regular shoes again.

I saw a kid wearing them for the first time tonight. At first I thought I was hallucinating--did I or didn't I see him sliding down the hall just now? When he's not skating they look like ordinary shoes.

Since I gave myself a concussion the one and ONLY time I ever rollerbladed, I think it would be a very bad idea for me......:selfbonk:

Heck no. I'm not sure when it happened, but I have to watch the ground to walk without falling. Just call me grace!
