Have any of you heard of a BSN going back to DO/MD school? The DO school in Kansas City I was looking at said they had many Pharmacist and BSN nurses returning for their DO. Is it very uncommon or just not know of very well?

I have worked with 3 RN-DO doctors, and 1 RN-Neurosurgeon doc. I also worked with several EMTP-ER MDs as well. All were great docs.

If your heart is in medicine, I say go for it. You only live once.

There are an abundance of threads on this same topic -- in fact, I just responded to one a few days ago. Do a search for those because some of them received many many great responses and would be very helpful for you. :)

Go for it. If I was 15 years younger and not looking at college for three children before I would be done with residency, I'd do it. If I could be a physician, I'd probably want to be a general surgeon.

I don't regret my choice to go into nursing. I find it a rewarding career with many options and flexibility that would not exist if I were a physician. Our ER docs work like dogs at the expense of the kind of family life that I am so fortunate to have.

Follow your heart.

I've known 3 RNs who became MDs (not a lot of DOs in my part of the US). For one, it was a strategy to get into med school. The other 2 went after an inheritance /marriage made it financially possible.
