Pregnant and New Job

When I interviewed for my new job, I was not pregnant. In fact, I found out the night after I had my final interview with the CNO. They do not know I'm pregnant (I go in tomorrow to enroll in insurance, etc.). I've already had my physical.

The hard part is I am due in December, so during the busy season. My husband and I have been trying for almost 2 years and are ecstatic! However, part of me feels bad for not telling them, but then again I'm only 8 weeks and wouldn't tell anyone normally until I hit the 2nd trimester.

Has anyone else ever been in this situation?

It's your own decision to tell them or not.

You don't have to tell them if you don't want to, and you shouldn't feel compelled.

I wouldn't tell them until you tell everyone else when you hit the 2nd trimester.

Congrats!!

I just feel a tad guilty for feeling like I'm "sneaking it by", but I was afraid if I said something, they wouldn't hire me. Yes, I know it's illegal to do that, but they could state another reason.

And thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is VERY awesome. I'm happy for you!

I 2nd what's already been said; tell them if you want, but you don't have to.

Again, congrats! :D

I was applying for jobs, and asked if they would have problems with me getting pregnant in the near future; the NM point blank said she wasn't even allowed to ask about it.

Especially since you didn't know you were when you interviewed, I don't think you are being "sneaky" in the least. I'd be shouting it to the stars! I was always so excited to be pregnant there wasn't any keeping it quiet.

Its your good news, and your decision when to share.....

CONGRATULATIONS! :clpty::clpty::clpty::hpygrp:

Make sure to find out the insurance policies; some don't allow your birth to be covered by insurance for at least a year after being hired.

Congrats!

You can always tell them you found out a little late that you are preggers! Congrats btw! That's awesome news. wait a couple of weeks then talk to your nurse manager.

Congrats!

And actually, I'm in the exact same situation. I found out a few days before I was offered the job. I have a history of miscarriage, so I did not want ANYONE to know, and felt like it wasn't really their business. I found out at 3.5 weeks, so most people wouldn't even have known! I two kids already (8 and 13) and this one was a COMPLETE AND SHOCKING surpise... to say the least. I am 10 weeks now and i think I will tell them around 13 - 14 weeks.

Good luck and again, congrats!!!!:redpinkhe

Thanks for the encouragment! We have a daughter that is almost 3 and faced secondary infertility. After much testing and finally fixing the problem, we apparently got pregnant right away! It is very hard to keep this baby a secret and we are just so excited!!!

I report directly to the CNO since I'm a float nurse, so I'm waiting until my 2nd trimester at least!

I think I'd just hold my cards for now. You'll know when the time is right. Don't worry too much about having the baby in December. Every month in the hospital is "busy season." They'll live through it. And *you* will have Christmas off! :D

Congrats! I wouldn't say anything until you tell everyone else. At least you get your baby's first Chrismtas off! :lol2: I am also due in early December. All 3 of my kids will be born between late Oct and early dec. I get Christmas and New Years off each time. :lol2: I know how to plan pregnancies! :lol2:
