Possibly a good move in life?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hey all! I have been considering joining either the Navy or the Air force. This would be a big step in life and considering my options. I'm still unsure where my life is taking me and I need to make a change sooner than later. I've been considering saving some money to take a LNA course in Connecticut in august at the red cross training center. I know for certain I want to get involved with a career that is highly respected as well as rewarding for me and my family's future. Most of my aunts are nurses, achieving great success in their lives. I know when it comes to joining the military, its really about what you make of it. My question is, would getting certified as an LNA qualify for anything in either services? This may seem confusing, but if anyone has something to throw at me please do.

The Navy has nurse candidate programs. It is really nice because they offer grants and stipends. I would take that route - that will get you right to goal at a faster rate if a nursing career is your goal. I'm sure if the Navy and Air Force has nurses, they have nurse assistants. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good Luck.

I am pretty sure they only take BSN prepared nurses. I interviewed for both after graduation and that was the first question both branches asked. I would DEFINITELY call a recruiter though, just to ask.

Thank you all for the advice. I have often wondered how we can put a combi-tube in, start a EJ and nurses are not able to do that. You guys had more training and more practice that ENT's do any day. That being said I realize my scope is going to shift drastically. While I will be able to do things I have never done before, I won't be able to do some things I take for granted!! Again thank you so much!!
