Ordering medications online?

I was browsing the net trying to find cheaper prices for my husbands stomach medicine and I came across several sites that sell medicine and you dont even need a prescription. A few of them were cheaper than what we pay with our insurance. Anyone know what the deal with this is? How can you buy medication without a RX? Im shocked at what IM seeing!

FDA shuts these down every day. I saw a piece on tv about these on-line pharmacies. Many of the meds tested bought on-line were sub-standered repros of just plain not-even-close fillers in the capsules etc. My suggestion-just stay away!

DON'T DO IT.

Not only have items been found that were sub-or superpotent or even had no active ingredient, some items have been contaminated with other drugs, most commonly Viagra no matter what the label said.

Someone on another board told about having some personal problems but was too embarrassed to tell their doctor, so s/he went to an online pharmacy and ordered 30 alprazolam tablets. A few days and $120  later, s/he got a small package from Mexico. What, may you ask, did it contain? A transistor radio, never used but an obsolete model. S/he called the 800 number, and to his/her surprise an English-speaking person answered and said that the tablets were hidden behind the battery pack.

Sure enough, they were - in a cellophane tube that looked like a Sixlets pack. No labeling of any kind. This person said the tablets had the desired effect; HOWEVER, a regular doctor's office and RX would have cost a LOT less and been much safer.

p.s. One of our technicians, who recently moved away, has a son in college and he told her that people in his dorm order lots of things, mostly Adderall or Concerta, online all the time, and that those drugs are easier to get than beer. Who knows what they're really taking?

I wouldn't risk it. First of all, if an assessment needs to be made by a physician, it is not done, and who knows what you're actually taking? It can be jellybeans or poison.

Ordering controlled substances online is against the law and if they come from overseas its an even worse thing because your basically accepting the transportation of contraband. I would not risk it. THere is some that you can get non controlled drugs here in the states and you answer the questionaire and supposedly a doctor writes the rx but I have never tried it
