On Call Pay

I am a RN who Circulates and Assists in a Plastic Surgeon's OR and after our cases do clinic the rest of the day. Not only do we take call for our surgical patients but we also have Med/Spa and we recieve calls from them as well. Each day I am on call from 5pm until 9am Mon-Thurs, and then on call from 5pm Friday until Monday at 9am. We get time and half if we get called in but our call pay is...quite frankly...pathetic. I am curious what the average is for call pay. My previous job was in a small town community hospital OR and the call pay was $2.00 per hour and time and a half if called in. I would appreciate any input on this subject. I am hoping to discuss this with HR but need some data and averages before I approach them regarding this issue. THANKS!!!! Dallas, TX

That sounds pretty accurate to me. My on call pay was the same and I worked in ICU

The pay is bad...but your on call hours suck. Seriously, that's way too much. When do you have time to relax, have a drink, invite friends over and not be worried about being called in?!

Where I worked most recently, on call pay was $1.25 per hour and I got straight time if called in, unless it amounted to more than 80 hours per 2 week pay period.

We get 3-something per hour call pay, but nothing if called in - we're salaried. We take call 1 wk/month, for 24x7.

I'm salaried , do MDS and take call every third weekend. No on-call pay and no pay if I have to go in and push a med cart. :crying2:

I knew this when I took the job 2 years ago. I've been pretty lucky, haven't had to go in much. But I don't dare have my beloved Margaritas that weekend. :smokin: And, I love my job and the people I work with. :wink2:

$6.00 per hour, time and a half if we get called in. I don't mind being on call, even if I have to go in. A few years ago we didn't get anything and had mandatory call. We also have mandatory docks, too.
