I did something bad and I'm scared

Please don't yell at me because I feel guilty.

So I live in a certain city. And I had a nurse recruiter from a city that's an hour away contact me about an interview. I told him I wasn't interested because of the commute. But he continued to push me. And even my nurse recruiter from my current city told me I should try it.

So I agreed for a face to face interview about a week or so in advanced. The day before, he tells me I will be expected to do a full shadow shift so I should wear scrubs. Well I was just really annoyed by him waiting til the last minute to tell me this. I called him but had no answer. So I left him a message telling him I am very sorry but I need to cancel our interview, I won't be able to make it, thank you for your time and the opportunity, blah blah blah. Never called me back that day.

Well the next day (the original day of the interview) he called me at said interview time wondering where I was. I explained that I had left him a message the day before letting him know I could not make it. He asked why. I panicked, so I lied and said I had another offer from somewhere else.

I feel really guilty.

And so today I had a GREAT interview at the same hospital institution but in my current city. And now I'm scheduled for a shadow shift and things are looking in my favor...

But I got a call from the Nurse Recruiter that I cancelled on late this evening, like 9 pm. So I am scared he's calling me to be like, why did you lie? I know you interviewed today. Blah Blah Blah.

Like I said, I feel terrible about this. But I wondering, besides KARMA, is there anyway this could bite me in the ass?

Really just looking for comfort here :(

It's none of his business. You don't have to explain yourself. You already told him you weren't interested. He should not contact you any further.

That's crazy!! Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong - he shouldn't have pushed like that - I worked for a short time at a facility that tried to get employees in the door like that-

The place turned out to be a nightmare!

Don't let it get to you- you might have dodged a bullet!

You scheduled an interview with him, something that, at most, lasts an hour or so. He called you at the last minute expecting you could just drop everything for an entire day. His expectations were rude and unprofessional. You don't even owe him a return phone call at this point.

If the local facility ever asks you about it, you can just tell them you live so much closer to them. Tell them when you considered the other job being so far away, you realized how hard that commute would end up being after working such long shifts and potentially needing to come back the next day.

He needs to step back, and you need to chill out!

(See how crusty I can be? Yay!)

Oh gosh okay thank you all! I just felt so guilty! Thanks for everyone being on my side :) Now I can sleep!
