Humorous thoughts as I prepare for ANOTHER job interview

This is quite a "360" from the post about my dear brother's death, but I'm in "pre-interview" mode right now......!!! :)

I have a job interview today, and as I

am doing allllllllllllll the prep, my first thought was "this is so much WORK!" ...then I started having humorous

thoughts that you all might enjoy.....

Professional dress ironed, new panty hose, and nice, low-heeled shoes---check!

**Oops, my sweet puppy decided to chew the strap on my cute shoe----cover teeth marks with black sharpie!!!

**Oops, my one "perfect" interview dress is missing a button.....gonna pretend I didn't notice! :D (it won't

be obvious to the recruiter, and I do NOT have the right button to sew on to fix it!!!)

Professional looking makeup---check! (arrghhh....that one nagging chin hair had to come back TODAY!!??)

Was painting this weekend.....paint that settled in EVERY crevice of my nails SCRUBBED ***OUT*** (took about five different scrubbings!!!):banghead:

Dontcha just wish we could go to interviews the way we *REALLY* look once we land the job??? Especially since I work

nights--- I wish I could just go to interviews with mascara smudged, eyes semi-reddened, wrist numb from allll

that new charting they make us do, in my COMFY scrubs

and more importantly, my VERY comfy shoes!!! :nurse:

I interviewed a couple months ago, and when the Nurse Mgr. took me on a niiiiiiiiiiice LONGGggggggggg tour

of the pretty hospital, she even commented: "I wish you had COMFORTABLE shoes on!"......Yea, I did too!

I PAID for that tour in my low-heeled CUTESIE shoes for two days afterwards!!! :smokin: THEN, just when I

was SURE they were going to hire me, people with more experience applied and that was the end for me...oh well! :clown:

Sheesh......interviews.....they're ALMOST daunting enough to make me wanna keep my current job------NOT!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL MY FELLOW JOB HUNTERS OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!:nurse:!

Forgot to add....being all sweaty from donning isolation gowns and masks for 12 hours....

hands CHAPPED from alllllllllllllllll the handwashing---

Andddddd.... last but not least-short of breath from chasing down the ONE glucometer we have for the ENTIRE

FLOOR----yeaaa, that's always FUN! 15 patients need ac breakfast glucose checks at 0630, and ONE

glucometer :banghead:-----just one of MANY reasons I need a NEW job!!!!!:crying2:

Haha, that is funny. I remember well the interview I had for the job I have now. I had signed up to work from 3am to 11am the morning before the interview at 12 noon(signed up for the time prior to knowing about the interview so figured I was going to make the best of it).

The night before I had my interview clothes in my car and my shoes (comfy shoes, just don't do heels) in the car. Was all ready to go and nervous. I had the alarm set for 2:00am and for some reason my mind saw the 12:15 am time when I woke up early but my mind turned it into a trick and thought it was 2:15 and thought I was running late. Got dressed in a hurry and ran into work and at 1:00am my coworkers said "why are you so early?" I said, but I'm not early cause I worked so hard on coming in on time as I look at the clock and my mind starts to dawn on the fact I'm there extremely early.

I'll tell you, looked like hell going into that interview and the people interviewing thought it was very funny.

:D Finding a job takes alot of work. I hate it because I have to wear makeup. Ew makeup. I hope it turns out well. :D

TWO MORE buttons popped off in the parking lot of the hospital!!! I HAD to explain it to the two ladies interviewing me.....they had a good sense of humor about it, at least they ACTED like they did...hee hee!

Uggghhh, it was one of those "we are still interviewing several candidates.....yadda yadda yaddaaa......I MISS the days when recruiters immediately said "when can ya start!?!" :-)

Hi Nervous!

Yes, I too remember the good old days when they asked you when you could start! :smokin:

I still like going to interviews in my scrubs. They will see that I already have a job, and I LOOK like a nurse already....Has worked for me! :D

Good luck to you and let us know what happens! :nurse:

I'm not done yet so no new grad positions for me. But...with all of the applications for anything in any hospital here while I'm in school my friend recommended I just start treating them like they are practice interviews. I go in and since this is to "practice" my interview skills I am so completely relaxed I've actually almost gotten a couple of jobs...except for the schedule with school, or that they want me to stay a unit coordinator for the rest of my life...or...but I'm getting good at interiews!

And I recommend double sided tape - it'll help hold when you have that inconvenient button problem. :)

and for crying out loud, do NOT be found with that piece of spinach stuck betw your 2 front teeth.

welll.....none of this job searching is humorous to me anymore! UGH! :banghead:

I called the recruiter 5 days later and asked in my best fake *NON-desperate* (hee hee) voice if they'd

chosen candiates for hire.....no return call

I am sooooooooooo tired of applying and spending alllllllllllllll that time on online applications and interviews

and not being hired!

I now know that seven years LPN, two years RN, and very positive letters of recommendation don't mean a lot

right now.........

UGH, in the meantime, my friends and I stay at a job where we are sooo unhappy-----but I realize it's a blessing just

to HAVE a job----I was soooooooooo spoiled back in the day when we were hired ON THE SPOT-----those days are

OVER!!!:bluecry1:
