If you won a billion dollars today, how many hours per week would you work as a nurse?

I really enjoy the work I do. I would continue as a Nurse consultant. Go on for my BSN and put away for my 3 kids' college education. To me a million dollars wouldn't go very far. However if the $$$ was right I would open up several group homes for disabled adults/children and actully care for them the way they deserved to be cared for with dignity and respect. And then I may give up my license because I would still be in a field that I enjoy. I would not give up working all together though I would use the manager side of the BSN to be the house Administrator.

a better question is:how much would you have to win to quit working as a nurse? how much would it take?

i just love my job so much that i think if i won a couple of million dollars, i would have to let it go to some other deserving person who needed the job.
if you'd have asked me twelve hours ago, i'd have traded my nursing license for a pack of smokes and a warm beer. brand-name, though--not generics.

I have always had this saying: When they go, I go. What I mean by that is when the people that are leaving me money pass, I'm going to retire. Of course at this point it looks as if they are going to outlast me!

Zero. I'd invest some of that money in Nintendo - their Tokyo stock prices have soared over the past year - and I'd just travel the world and relax for the rest of my life. Maybe I'd adopt a kid. One thing is for sure - I would NEVER work again.

I would be running a charity. Nothing to do with nursing!

Not only would I call in rich, I'd tell them they can have everything in my locker AND my last paycheck (if it meant I had to come in to pick it up)! Of course, I'd wait until I had that lottery check in my hot little hands...

It would take enough to pay off my house, my vehicles, my student loan debt and my credit cards and then I'd go do something that I like doing, like work in a vets office or train horses. Probably less than a million and I could live quite happily on a smaller wage.

For $100,000 I'd be able to quit my current job so that I could focus on getting my RN degree without having to work at the same time. For $500,000 I'd quit nursing all together and either go back to accounting, become a vet tech, or do medical transcription. With that extra cash in the bank, I could afford to take a pay cut.
