How long did you breastfeed your children?

I will start...I breastfed my son until just after his 3rd birthday.:)

Ds#1 - I was never able to nurse, but did pump the entire 10 weeks he lived.

Dd - 16 months (she abruptly weaned when I became pregnant again).

Ds#2 - He's still nursing and is 27 months.

Sorry to hear about your baby.

1st--13 months

2nd--18 months. And I SWEAR he ate NOTHING but a few Cheerios and breast milk. I was afraid he'd never eat real food!

#1 6months,this was in 1978 and not a lot of support for nursing at that time.

#2 1 year

#3 15 months

I wish I had nursed them longer, they were willing but I listened to my peds doc.

I think its great that now there is much support!

1978...I graduated in 1978 :)

My son for 3 years and my daughter for 2 years. I was able to be home with them. But anyone who pumps at work is AWESOME.

I nursed my daughter until she was 4 yrs and 8 months.

I waited until she didn't cry anymore when I refused to

nurse and I finally told her I wasn't healthy enough to nurse her.

The last time she tried I was out of milk because I made

the times less frequent and also was under stress.

Over my time of nursing her I continued to try to reason

with her and she was finally old enough to understand

the reasons. I don't regret having nursed so long

and I went against most peoples advice.

1st child was 5 weeks premature-breastfed and formula 6 months I didn't know better! That was 18 years ago :(

2nd child -14 months

3rd child - 3 1/2 yrs

11 months -I was ready and wanted to be completely "done" by a year and she was fine with it too (food was more interesting at this point anyway to her lol!)

Specializes in med-surg 18 months, respiratory 3.5 year.

I have two girls and I breastfed each of them until they were three. It's nice to see all the dedicated moms who have posted. I didn't think breastfeeding was that popular, I thought I was the weird one.:roll

2.5 years for my first son, basically until I just dried up from such infrequent sessions. I was in tears with my second, bc I wasn't producing (implants I got after first son) After 2 weeks of pumping and attempted nursing around the clock, along with home remedies, I was just beat and had to give up.

Only reason for me to regret fixing those flat pancake tee tees from the previous years of nursing!!

Specializes in PICU.

Are you serious? 3 years? How do you do that? I am on only going on 11 months and i ready to quit. How do you breastfeed a 3 year old? i can barely position my son so we can both be comfortable. You are good!

I went 3 1/2 years with my last child. Usually a first thing in the morning quiet time with mommy. Then when boo boo's happen or he started to melt-down with fatigue. Then right before bed. Oh and nap time - laying down on the bed together after reading a story or two.

He fit very easily on my lap - actually he is 4 1/2 and still fits.
