Hi I know this may be silly question, but what is it called when you ask questions to patients for example: If the patient says that she isn't feeling good? You say, your not feeling good? I just cannot remember what it is called and also tried going back to my fundamentals book but can't seem to find it. Thanks for your help!!!

It sounds like a closed ended question, because it requires a yes or no answer

Reflection or restating. Basically, you're handing back the information so that the patient can expand on it. It drives me bonkers when someone does it to me, but I saw it used effectively in my psych rotation.

It's restating.....try your psych book, instead :)

Yes. It is called 'restating' psych book is the best place to look for that :)

I think it's called re-phrasing or re-framing. I believe it's done for clarity, to show the patient that you are hearing them correctly. But like the above poster said, this would be in your psych book.
