Health Insurance rates...

At my new job are crazy high! Although I am not working at the actual hospital, I am at one of their physician's offices, it's the same cost for all employees in the whole system.

For an HSA, 3k ded, family coverage, is listed at $105 per 2 wk pay period. Not bad right? But if you have a spouse that works then you have to pay an extra $160 per pay period for them. Which all adds up to around $500/mo for a stinking HSA. And they don't pay anything towards your 3k ded. I won't even look at the HMO plans , it's in the $700/mo range.

Is this normal? I can't afford to go the hospital I work for lol. I won't complain about being on my husband's HSA now, it's not the best a 5k ded for our whole fam per year, but at least it's affordable and his employer contributes some money in our HSA. It's just kind of mind boggling to me, if for some reason my husband's insurance increased to those premiums we would not be able to afford it, especially with two kids in daycare.

Sorry I know this is off topic but I was shocked! And now a little worried that one day all rates will be like this and we will be left with no choice other than having no insurance.

For my family, its $300 a pay period for health, dental, and vision. So a little of $600/ month thats not including the deductables, co-pays and what not.

Hippy, that does seem high. My husband's insurance (medical and dental) costs $146 every 2 weeks for both of us and one son. We have a $250 deductible per family; the plan pays 80% of most stuff. It's pretty darned good!

Have you considered buying insurance yourself? You might be able to find something better on your own.

Mine is a whopping $828 per month to cover my family.....and it isn't even all that great. Pretty high deductibles and co-pays. Kills me, but what am I supposed to do??

almost 600$ per month, with 5000 deductible, for just little ol' me! Self pay.

Had a job that I would have owed them money every month to cover myself and family. Thank goodness nothing happened.

Wow, I'm lucky! I just have individual coverage but I pay $100 per month and have no deductible and reasonable copays.

You know I haven't looked into private insurance..that's a good idea to research...we are done having children so we wouldn't have to have that super pricey maternity rider...my husband's company buys him out every month if we don't use their insurance...it may be cost effective to go private.

It's a shame that those who provide medical care cannot afford to get insurance through their emoter, or it's crazy ass expensive.. Just got a warning myself that ours is going up soon. So disappointing.

Sometimes I feel it just gets to a point where you say to hell with it, it's not even worth it to pay into these scam plans anyways, but I need to keep my kiddo's insured so I will keep my rebel ways confined...I got a shocker when I had to go to ER for IV ATB, urgent care couldn't do it which is why I went there in the first place to avoid ER cost, 3hrs with the IV, some zofran, and a couple of labs..3k! My head almost spun right off my shoulders lol didn't even include what I have to pay separate for the labs and MD. It is what it is I suppose just discouraging at times.

$850 a month would be the price for me with family coverage. Luckily, my husband has excellent insurance and we use his. In my area, all nursing jobs have bad insurance. Ironic, when you can't afford to go to the hospital you work at.

Is it better to get insurance through your employer or just buy it yourself? I don't have any insurance as of right now but want to get some sort of insurance in case something happens. I am single with no kids so it would be just for me. When my employer had open enrollment it stated it would be give or take $130 per pay period so that's about 260+ a month. When I looked at individual insurance plans online. There were plans for give or take $150 a month.
