okay to make a long story short, i had no choice but to drop out of college when i was preggo with my first. It was to late to wp or wf so i got f's basically failed out of all the classes. I am trying to get back in and i tried to appeal those classes and they said it was to late to appeal and that i'd have to just take the classes over again. I'm enrolling once again now and i need hope i guess. Do you all know anyone who has failed so bad and still got accepted into the program to become and RN? I have all my pre-reqs in and am just wondering if i still have that chance....i messed up but i re-took the classes to make up for my mistake...make sense...i'm new here so just looking for hope and good things :) thanks

I had the exact same thing happen, although I was only taking one class at the time. All A's, and then this one "F" :(, which they asked me about. I explained the circumstances, and the interviewer hand wrote the note on my transcript...and I was accepted. I start in the fall. I encourage you to do the same, especially if you have a consistent history of other grades justifying your academic potential. Good luck to you!

My school will consider only the last 30 credits earned when considering your GPA if it's better than your overall GPA...recognizing that a person can learn from earlier mistakes.

Thank you that gives me so much hope now...i am not a bad student at all! it's just that time i had no choice with everything going on in my life. I will point that out to my advisor and tell them that. Hopefully i will be able to get in when spring semester rolls around...thanks so much!

Most schools look only at core nursing prerequisites. I have my share of dings on my transcript. I was accepted and finished school.

One hint:

Apply to multiple schools. In your cover letter always emphasize that you will accept a waiting list position and will enroll on short notice as a replacement for a "no show" training seat.

This strategy expands your opportunities for acceptance.

When I applied there was a spot on the application to write something, so just explain it to them. I am sure you will not have any problem! Good luck!

In 2006 I suffered a mental breakdown due to emotional stress. I was doing really well in all of my classes and at the end of the semester in 2005 I just felt so exhausted mentally, that I could not complete my exams and papers. I ended up with D's and F's. Then I tried to return in the spring of 2006 and withdrew half-way through the semester. I was so depressed because I was in so much debt and had nothing to show for it.

Eventually, I decided to go back school and this time I applied to a nursing school. It's really competitive, but I was so confident, I NEVER doubted myself for a second. I knew that I was smart and I just had some problems I needed to take care of. So I wrote my heart out explaining what happened and had an interview with one of the admission counselors. I explained what happened and she believed me. And I got in!!!! I just completed a year and I have one more year to go! I feel so blessed by God. So many of my other classmates have dropped out of the program and I'm still here. Thank God. I even won a scholarship.

NEVER doubt yourself. It can be done. Don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible. God can make it happen for you as he did for me.

Good Luck!

Hello=)....Like a lot of you , I too dropped out half way through my LPN program .I feel so silly now , but at the time had very little choice ..I had two small toddlers and was going through divorce =[. Now 14 yrs later I am happy to say , Im starting to pursue nursing again! Im taking a CNA class as a stepping stone , and hoping this will help get accepted into a 2009 LPN program. I am already studying for my nurses entrance exam . And I will be honest upfront before they ask about my attending a previous program. Im crossing my fingers there is still hope for me , Im 37 and getting a late start=/.Good luck to you all.. ~Sherie

Definitely don't let this stop you! Talk to the schools where you are applying and find out what they suggest to straighten it out. The other thing that often helps is that if you are transferring from another school they normally don't bring the grade only the credit for any of the classes you passed. :)
