fingerprints for hospitals??

Hi.....

I am a new RN in Las Vegas, so I am a little busy in applying these days... :)

Anyway, is it normal in other states also that I need to submit my fingerprints to every hospital whenever I apply?(although I passed the backgroung check to get my license here in Nevada)

It is fine if I have to, but sometimes I feel like it is too much...

I am just wondering if other states are also like here though...

I will appreciate if you can give me some ideas!!:bugeyes:

Maybe Nevada is still trying to find Jimmy Hoffa and they figure the field of nursing is a good place to start. Never been fingerprinted for work before other than to access the pyxis.

I only applied to one hospital when I got my job, and I had to be fingerprinted before they hired me, even though I had just been fingerprinted to take the nclex less than a month before....

What a bunch of turds. If they've checked me out enough to hire me I would hope fingerprints wouldn't make any difference.

I'm very happy to have kept my prints private, in preparation for my retirement career as a paid assasin.

It is not an uncommon practice, and is gaining more exposure as time goes on.

Just because someone got a license years back and had their fingerprints run then, does not mean that they have not had any issues since with the law. It is actually the hospital's right to protect their patients in any way that they see fit. And with what we have seen with conterfeit licenses and stolen licenses being used, it is one way to be safer for everyone around.

I also had to be fingerprinted at my current job. I have been working there for four years and apparently last year they decided it is required that your finger prints be on file.:bugeyes:

I agree with the above posters, it seems evertime we turn around, we have to agree to a background check and fingerprints.

While in LVN school we had to undergo background checks for each of the hospitals, state facilities as well for the school itself. Then while in RN school the same thing, then fingerprinting for NCLEX, then the hospital I worked for decided to require fingerprinting as well.

Oh well, just another thing for nurses to do.

Never been fingerprinted, except to transfer my license to another state years ago. I guess I wouldn't really care if it was the last step to being hired, but I wouldn't want do it just to apply.

i always was fingerprinted, it is not a big deal really, unless you have something to hide
