HI!

What major drugs should I definitely know for nclex? Hopeless with pharm...and any resources? Any other advice? Thanks.!

HI

YOU DID NOT SAY IF YOU ARE LPN OR RN, BUT IF YOU ARE LPN, THE TEST I TOOK DID NOT HAVE ANY DRUGS ON IT, I HAD A LOT OF PATIENT CARE AND MED SURGE,A COUPLE OF DRUG PROBLEMS AND LOTS OF RELIGION QUESTIONS WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

With a week to go, I personally think it would be impossible. I'd review over some of the major ones...like meds. that you passed a lot during clinicals, etc. I didn't have too many med. questions either.

Good luck!

I had a lot more psycho-social questions than drug questions. I concentrated on drug classifications as opposed to specific drugs that way I had a better understanding of more drugs with less time spent on memorizing specific drug facts (oh, yeah, and know digoxin!).

Warfarin, Digoxin, to be honest I did not have any drugs questions during the NLCEX RN, but that is not to say that you wont. There was alot of prioritoring questions and patient education. Just study hard and know the side effects of most of the common drugs, aspirin etc. There may also be some calculations, so be prepared.....

I did have 3-4 drug questions on NCLEX-RN- they were sort of embedded into scenarios, and yes, I had one calculation. Just know the biggies, and what simple complications they can cause (bradycardia or tachycardia).

Hi T.

I would try to concentrate on Coumadin, Digoxin, Lasix (almost always taken with KCl), insulin, possibly heparin. Also keep in mind mainstream antibiotics and always keep in mind interactions, side effects and contraindications. You needn't study every little detail...they'll ask you what they would expect you to know as an RN. Much luck.
