Just got off the phone with the nursing supervisor to make sure that I am actually working for the person who asked me to work today. Since I wouldn't be in to work to fill out a slip and this was all done by my co-worker text messaging me, my co-worker told me that the staffing office would call me. They never did call, so I decided just now that I'd better call them just to make sure, before I drive all that way!

She said that, 'oh yeah, I knew that you were working for her one day this week, I don't know what happened to that slip of paper I wrote it on, but it was gone today when I came to work. I was going to call you last night, but never got around to it'

Why am I not surprised. :banghead: I said 'so am I working or not?' Of course I am, yeah, she'll change it on the sheet. Usually they never do change it on the sheet, I'll come in and the charge nurse asks me "so who are you today?" since the nursing supervisors just aren't very organized. They just write things down on a sticky and it promptly gets lost.

It is frustrating.....I do work very closely with our Sups, and I would not want their job. I had one up on my floor the other day dealing with an issue and while she was there for 10 min her phone rang like 15 times, people calling in, or changing shifts, and a staffing agency canceling....man I would hate that all darn day. So I am not shocked that things get overlooked, there must be a better system!

The supervisor that I work with most often is also very disorganized, though not so much with staffing, but with placing patients in rooms! I'm hoping that things will get easier when the remodeling to our hospital is all done and we will have more private rooms. For now, we have a very limited number of private rooms, and that causes a lot of problems.

Useless as a chocolate fireguard is how I would describe my supervisor
