The add on TV says mood changes, i.e., irritability, aggression, thoughts of suicide. This can happen with any number of anti-depressant meds.

The reason for this inquiry is that my dad has been on cymbalta for a while now...since he has been on the cymbalta...he has cheated on my mom...divorced my mom....gotten married ....cheated on his new wife...and has a complete personality change...and has been drinking alot more...more than he ever has

He is not the man that I once called my dad...granted I know that people change and marriages fall apart....

but my dad's morals have stood....up until now....

He has had issues with depression in the past....and has been on medications...and did well...now that he is on the cymbalta...he no longer talks to me or my sisters....

i am very concerned about him...and i cant think of anything other than a brain tumor that is causing him to behave this way....i know that men sometimes go through a mid life change....

but...this is waaaay above something i thought my dad would do....

Needs a professional assessment. Its hard for Cymbalta to do anything good for you if you keep drinking a depressant all the time. I wouldn't get my hopes up about him agreeing to go for medical interview - it might take something more like an intervention to persuade him to see someone. Would he agree to go see the person who prescribed the Cymbalta? Good luck and let us know how things work out for the two of you.

Mom and I noticed alot of change in him when he decided to leave mom....

Both of us tried to get him to see someone....

Mom and I are both aware that he needs professional help....but telling him that....is like talking to a brick wall...:banghead:

Dad and I have never really had a good relationship....but my other sisters...ages 22, 19, and 12 all have been close to him...

They are all now starting to see that he is "cracking" my 19 yr old sister refuses to talk to him anymore, telling him that he has changed and that he has chosen his new wife over us...his daughters

My baby sister...who has always been a daddy's girl....who even after the divorce chose to stay with dad over mom....is now no longer wanting to stay with him....she states he is drinking more....and that she dreads going over to stay with him (mom and dad have split cusody one week with mom...one week with dad)

My 22 yr old sister...I have don't know how she feels....but....

I know that this guy that looks like my dad...isnt my dad anymore

Thanks for all the posts
