Curious-MRI side effect?

I had my first (and hopefully last) MRI today for a left rotator cuff tear. After stopping the test once due to a rather nasty episode of vertigo, I got through the rest of the test (singing the alphabet song to myself over and over and over...).

During the test I felt a slight tingling sensation on the left side of my face, but didn't think much about it. Afterwards though, I noticed it looked as if I had a mild sunburn on both sides of my face.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

I've had numerous MRIs and I've never had any side-effects much like the one you describe, or any for that matter.

Never and one of my scans lasted an hour and 45 minutes.

This can be a side-effect of MRI, but it isn't common. Short-lived hot feeling during the study and a very few individuals have had 1st degree burns much as you've described. These, too, are short-lived.

I've had several MRIs that lasted well over an hour and never have experienced anything like that.

sirI--thanks for letting me know I'm not imagining things, although apparently I might be "special" ;)

Thanks to everyone else who answered too!
