Procter & Gamble pulls Clairol shampoo commercial and apologizes to nurses
June 11, 2003 -- As a result of protests from nurses, Procter & Gamble promised on June 9 to stop running a Clairol Herbal Essences television commercial that showed a female nurse leave her patient unmonitored to wash her hair in his bathroom, then dance around his room, waving her hair in ecstasy....more

Now is that representative of the typical audience they are targeting? But then, who wants to watch a bunch of middle aged, well lived women dance around with their cellulite and orange peel skin?

I would, actually. It's the stuff of REALITY and I would respect someone being "for real" in advertising. It's like that AVON cellulite cream commercial. I mean, sheesh who at 5 feet 10 and 110 is gonna have a NEED for CELLULITE cream? It made me run the OTHER way from Avon, frankly.
I have written to Procter & Gamble and asked when they intend to actually get the commercial off the air like they promised. Please post here every time you see the commercial--please list the network, the show it is being broadcast with and time of day. Thank you,

It's about time. That commercial was demeaning to the nursing profession. I think it was pulled in our area too, because thankfully I have not seen it for a long time. Clairol has been airing tastless commercials for well over a year. I also wrote the Proctor and Gamble Co. and informed them that as long as they continue to air demeaning commercials, I will not be purchasing their products. I am not alone. Many of my freinds are disgusted with their ads as well and refuse to buy any Clairol products.
