For a BSN in California am I restricted to the schools listed on the California BON website?

I'm not sure really, I would think you can take classes from anywhere. Maybe the info on this page will help > http://www.cecaddy.com/boards.php

If I understand right, yes. The CA BON has very strict guidelines for licensure. You always want to make sure that the school you are attending is approved by the board. No point in wasting all that money for a degree that won't get you anything in the state you want to practice in.

If you are taking prerequisite or support courses, you can take them anywhere and transfer them to the school where you will obtain your BSN, provided that the school accepts the courses in transfer. These moves should always be planned and approved in advance. You can not get your degree at a school that does not offer the BSN, and if you were to go to a school that is not approved by the BRN, then they will not grant you the license. Go to the website of the BRN and look for the info that they provide concerning nonapproved courses. The BRN explicitly states that there are entities out there that are bogus and that the BRN will not license anyone with credentials from those sources. If the BRN went through the trouble to post an info sheet on the website concerning this topic, then that means it is a big problem. Don't get caught up in one of these scams.

Can you be more specific as to what you are trying to do. If you get licensed in CA with your ADN, then you can attend what ever school that you wish for the BSN as you will have had the license issued based on the ADN training.

However, if you hold the LPN/LVN and are wishing to attend a program to get the RN, whether thru the ADN or the MSN, then the school must meet the requirements for licensure in CA. Not all programs that are offered are going to be listed on their site. Schools out of state usually are not listed.

But they are very up front about specific programs not meeting their requirements for RN licensure such as those done thru Excelsior. So that is why I am asking.

I'm licensed already and interested in an online program for the BSN but not clear on accreditations that would be acceptable.
