Oh boy where do I start with Ca brn?!

I can say I'm fed up with the whole process. I can never get a clear answer to my questions which are as followed; what is the time frame for a military spouse applying for RN Endorsement? What is the status of my RN Temp license since you cashed my money order? *I can't track it through Breeze &I was told when my money order is cashed then they will create a file* How is the liaison for military spouses? * oh believe me that question ruffled their feathers* Why is my temp license not issue if you see I have everything required in your system?

Yup this was just a portion of my questions and the lady was very short with me. I kept getting it takes 8 to 12 weeks to process your application. Which is against the law right since military spouses get the expedited application process???? Im FRUSTRATED!!! I've emailed , faxed, and called to only get the freaking run around from this office.

Anyone have any advice?

It's awful do deal with bureaucracies, isn't it? Are they supposed to provide some sort of extra benefit for military spouses? That's nice - I have never heard of that before.

Helpful hint - Please change your avatar & user name to something more anonymous. It's important to maintain your anonymity, particularly since you're using AN to vent about your BON. . . . just sayin'

Bad timing for you. Everyone just graduated in spring, and there is a huge amount of applications that are being processed by the BON. Hopefully it gets finished soon, good luck :)

Thanks for the advice! I'm pretty sure a few of the ladies at the CA BRN is aware of me by 1st name now. I am always very professional with whom ever I speak with even if the ordeal is frustrating me. I just needed to vent where I know people would understand my situation.

I'm realizing that lol... I picked a great time to move cross country huh? Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself when I get into a pickle. I ended up filing a compliant and the DCA forwarded my email to a lady at the BRN who was really helpful and answered my questions with a response better than 8 to 12 weeks...lol.... I even was given the phone number to the person who will be evaluating my application *which is AWESOME*. I'm still not aware of the time frame for military spouses applications to process but I'm happy there was someone to finally hear me. Hopefully I'll at least be seeing my temp license soon. ***fingers crossed***

Several years ago I was planning to move to California so needed a Ca nursing license. (Didn't end up going there, though.) I jumped through all the hoops, paid all the money and waited. And waited. Every time I tried to call I got put on hold only to eventually be told my call just couldn't be answered. Then I found a news article saying the governor fired most of the staff at BON.

After about 6 months I finally got through, stated I'd been waiting 6 months for a license, then they asked me what my question was (!). I asked them if 6 months was a normal wait time and they told me the hold up was the DOJ. I called the place that had done my fingerprints to make sure they got sent to the DOJ and they had.

When I called the BON again a week later, they said "Oh, you're the one who called the DOJ". But, turned out, my application was processed and my license was in the mail. Finally. I thought it was a cheap shot blaming the DOJ. I would have hoped they got all their glitches ironed out this many years later. I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hassle. Good luck - I'll be sending you good thoughts for speedy processing.

I will never renew my CA RN license by email EVER again..what a hassle. Paid fees did all the required online requirements, paid the full fees and they get a inactive license in the mail. Called and complained and they did enter active on web site but want fees to send a new license..I live out of state and carry a Nevada license also. Hope I never have to go back to CA to work but you never know what will come up. I will drive to Sacramento next year to renew in person..hate Breezy not a breeze.

Well I just received a finger print card in the mail. I'm over here wondering why did the BRN send me this when I did lives can fingerprints?! I called them and they just kept telling me your application is new, your application is new! I'm like DUH! Why did you send me the fingerprint card? Is there something wrong with my finger prints? The lady put me on hold for EVER then told me they have my results so she doesn't know why the card was sent to me. I'M SO DONE! UGH! I would not get my license here if I had a choice.

It's like you have to cut them off before they cut you off and feed you a bunch of crap.

They are rather irritating ...especially because they won't even communicate with you until they've had your application in hand for at least a few months. I did eventually get notified (by mail) that my fingerprint card was not accepted. It turns out that the instruction sheet I followed was contrary to another instruction sheet elsewhere on their site. I ended up flying to CA and doing live scan there in an attempt to simplify things. I also had no way of knowing if they received the transcripts sent directly by my school.

Eventually, I did get a license, but I'm glad that I was in no hurry. You may be happy to hear that the renewal process is much faster and more efficient.

So sorry to hear! I just got my CA license approved a few days ago!!! My husband is active duty AF and we got orders to PCS to CA. It took me a week and a half from the date of submission to get my CA license endorsed. I did electronic fingerprinting. I was told this expedites the process. Being a military spouse, I was told to expect a 6-8 week wait. Not true, as I only waited a week and a half! My husband knows a fellow airman stationed at Travis and I mailed it to him and he drove 30 mins to drop it off at the CA state board office. If he wasn't able to, I was already planning to fly there and back home to LV, NV for a day trip. So sorry to hear your luck. I wrote on 2 areas at the front of my packet that I am a military spouse. Hopefully my situation may help you!

I also did not bother with paying for a temporary, as I was told that I would receive it expired and within the same time frame with being a military spouse.
